I don't know about you, but every USA mix i've played has the worst dance pads, screen resolution, and the sound is on like, 4 out of 20. I was just wanting to see if I'm just used to quality machines. Thanks. |

Yeah, I played that mix last summer at Carowinds and I almost fell off the pad because it was so slippery. Lots of pad misses, too. Or maybe it was my fault because I couldn't hear the music at all. _________________

The actual mix isn't that bad for a USA mix, with some old skool songs. But the machine would be in bad condition, being as it was from 3rd mix era.

Most EX mixes were upgraded from the 3rd mix era... Thoes machines were kept and they were upgraded over and over... most of the time... There is no reason why it shouldn't be working... It's just the place. _________________

the first time I ever played ddr it was on a USA mix...I don't count that as really playing ddr though
if the pads were slippery it was because the maintenence people used windex or something to clean the pads...they do that at my local arcade. you get used to it though. no, my main problem was that the dance pad was noticably smaller than on a japanese machine and the pads were in horrible condition. it was also very cheesy looking with its disco ball hanging from the lighting rig...and I can't remember a single song that I played that day. I was also playing in sandals, which was a big pain. my experiences with ddr USA haven't been very good I guess. though I read that they are very easy to upgrade. |

I dunno, that's the case with me too. last DDRUSA I played was at Gallery Furniture. I dunno if that company is national, but it's a furniture place, obviously.
Anywho, for some odd reason they had DDR in a kids' play place. Due to that fact, the machine was free. A good deal. Even better, if it weren't for the verry dark screen, horrible sound, and sticky pads. DDRUSA has a habit of getting in bad condition...
Funny, that machine isn't in the DDRFreak Machine Locations list. I should go submit it when I get the address. Another tally for Texas! |

DDR in a furniture store? Hah! Gotta love those odd DDR machine locations, like McDonald's, doughnut shops, etc.
Anyway, DDRUSA is a pretty shoddy game. It used the 3rd Mix interface when 4th Mix was already out, and while it had ~30 songs, an improvement over US 1st Mix, compared to 4th Mix and even 3rd Mix the songlist was pretty limited. It also had an overly lenient grading system, not to mention the fact that it was supposed to have some American exclusive songs (like what the DDRMAX USA games are doing now) and that fell through. Combine all this with the fact that I've heard new DDRUSA machines from Konami cost around $13,000 when Konami's American arcade branch was still alive, and it's no wonder DDRUSA tanked. |

Same with DDR 1st mix (USA) wich was a port of 3rd mix with a smaller songlist (different songs too). _________________

In the navy isnt in DDR USA and Captain Jack was american, now he's german. You dont understand that DDR USA is just a port of Japaneese DDR arcade games, done crapfully. There arnt any american exclusives in the 2 mixes for the arcade. _________________

Really? I was unaware of that fact. I just thought it was a machine with some American licensed songs, with some old tracks for good measure.
Well, I know one american song on it, at least (since I played it): Stomp to My Beat. |

i'll ask here... where in the melbourne area is there or was there a ddr usa?
which arcade are you talking about?
all of the machines in the melbourne area that are on the machine list, i've been to- and none of them have ever had a USA mix let alone two DDR machines in one arcade... so enlighten me if there's a new machine around town. _________________
