If you could copy-paste the exact text of the error you're getting, then it will help debug the problem. Do you get an error when you try and play with the keyboard, or just with the pad? Is the error an SM error, or a windows error?

Its a Stepmania error, and it only happens with the DDR Pad, however, I have found that the problem is the Radio Shack adapter that I have been using...

HELP!

How do I get my Radio Shack adapter to work? I am using the latest version of Stepmania, available at their site... I am also using Winblows XP and my dance pads are DPR2 it works fine but it doesn't recognize double arrows... will the red octane one work?

sigh im having the same exact problems as Shenjoku777. anyone help? it really sucks if i have to live with this problem cuz i bought a cobalt flux. it seems like i cant press more then 1 arrow most the time

I just started using stepmania its better than DWI. I got a question though.
how and where can I get the extreme layout because I dont like how it all DDRMAX when you select something.

Is there any way to make the arrows in solo arrow font mode appear like the solo arrows in DDR Extreme? (most of the machines I play nowadays are Extreme so that's what I'm used to) Right now, something about the shape of them... somehow they're different. I often find myself playing in "note" mode instead, which of course isn't in the real arcade version.

that noteskin is based off of the actually DDR Solo mix arrow style.

download and install the ddrex solo noteskin. be careful that when you install it you don't replace any of your old noteskins. for some reason when it went to install it tried to remove the defaul noteskin, resulting in stepmania not working properly.

Rather than reading through these pages, you should check out the Simulator FAQ sticky or the SM readme file. Either will have a pretty good description. If you have specific questions/problems, you can post them here after you read those, but it would be a waste of time for one of us to reproduce the instructions that come packaged with the program.

I just had a question regarding background videos. And getting them to work with a song.

I've made some songs with the music video for it. One has allways worked for me, two have stopped working on me. And one I'm just currently working on doesn't work. It just fades to black.

And I've messed around with the options menu, and nothing fixes this problem. I'm thinking it could be the encoding for the files. I used .avi format for them all. And used Virtual Dub to cut out the sound.

I would be greatfull for any help. As I've never ever been able to figure out this problem. I'm using Stepmania 3.9 Alpha 20 if that helps.

ANyway I can get the oni/nonstop thing to work? It won't let me play nonstop courses or onis. I have 3.9 a20.

The theme I'm using is ExComplete but it won't work on the Default Theme, ExComplete, NOR SMMax2.

I used to have the problem of it not letting me get to the mod screen but ExComplete fixed that somehow.

If anyone can help me with a solution and a reason to this, it'd be great. Thanks.

It might just be what I get for grabbing a21 so soon, but I noticed that there are three options in the "appearances" dialog that pertain to oni mode that will cause the game to stop working as soon as I select my difficulty.

I've isolated it to one of these: (Display % or dance points) (sort by #songs, avg feet, etc.) (random at end)

Does anybody know what's up with that?

I don't know but I guess it's what happens when you select any nonstop mode or oni mode like in alpha 20.

I guess the problems are shared.

Well, I narrowed it down to either sorting or the random at end, but it causes SM to crash no matter what mode I select.

Also, on oni mode, the default difficulty is "difficult", but if you go into the options, it defaults to easy. Also, if you switch difficulties at the course select screen (Like \/ \/ or /\ /\) it does the same thing.

I have the same problem as DJ AAA, I have the group folder, inside I have the extreme folder and inside are the songs but when I go to play SP it says 0 songs. PLEASE help me. so
