Well, it seems Guiness sent me the wrong guidelines. They sent me "Dancing Marathon" instead of "Dance Machine Marathon." So I'm just going to wing it off of what I know and see if it works. $700 in pledges so far, almost halfway there E1.gif

Whoa. Easy there, turbo. I don't see any flames, just different views on how easy/hard this would be. Relax, and try again, young grasshopper.

I love how this topic seems to pop up every couple months with someone and their "omg hay guyz I'm gonna didder for 328976890370 hours and be all 1337 and stuff cuz I'm going to break a world record so you all stfu"

In reality, if this record was really anything worth trying to break, some ultra endurance marathon runner or something would learn how to play beginner and go for like 10 days straight, big whup.

Not trying to steal your thunder, good luck and all, but don't act like the world is going to owe you something for doing this...you're talking about prancing around on some pretty arrows for 40 hours to step patterns my 5 year old cousin can do

Have Fun happy.gif

nice work, I know I probably couldn't do 40 hours. Either tiredness or ADD would kick in first. Probably ADD. Since I quit light mode on endless about an hour ago, only a half hour of game play.. I was bored. ANYWAY. I did have a question. How is the owner of the machine taking it? your occupying the machine for 40 hours?

First Off, I would like to say to those idiots that think this isn't as hard as it sounds... What the hell is wrong with you anyway? This guy is trying to do something to HELP PEOPLE!

To the guy who is trying:

Best of wishes to you. It's going to be hell... I tried playing for five hours non-stop just to see how it was, so I know 40 hours is going to be hell. If I had any money to give out, I'd give it just for attempting(but seeing as I am a poor bastard, I can't).

Good Luck.

My name is Derek Dougherty, and on July 20th Keith Floresca can I are going to attempt to break the world DDR Record. The purpose is not only break the record, but to gather pledge money to bring a good friend of ours back from russia in the summer of 2005. We have already began training and if there are any people who have attempted the record and have some pointers please e-mail me at [email protected]

Thank you in advanced

DDR OWNS ALL !!!!!

1) russia is the shizzle (just felt like saying that)
2) I could possibly only do it for 6, 7 1/2 hours tops

Second,

Ignore the dumbasses who keep saying stuff about beginners mode and all that crap and how easy it is, let them try it themselves

I typed this up and am planning on keeping a printout of this next to a donations jar there during the whole event so visitors can read. Please feel free to give any comments or suggestions to change it, or if i should take a different approach if at all. This is my first draft, so go easy.

Maybe some of you will also realize what I'm doing this for

What this fundraiser is for…
Written by Keith Floresca

Unlike many world record attempts that along with the attempt, money is raised for a charitable cause, this is primarily a fundraiser with the world record being the second goal. All money raised will go to Erin Schroeder and her family.

If you don’t know the Schroeder family, they left March of 2004 to go on a long missionary. They are currently living in Moscow, Russia spreading Christianity to the far reaches of the world. Since then, they have found an apartment, met many acquaintances, recovered from jet lag, and adjusted do the different culture, but they have never broken their bonds with their friends here. Through means of e-mail, middlemen already going to Russia, online articles, and hopefully in the near future, calling cards, we here have been able to keep in touch with them and get a little taste of Russia.

Erin wishes to come back next summer to visit all of us in the United States next summer (2005). Their budget is tight, and from what I’ve last heard they’re falling behind $250 a month. Getting a roundtrip plane ticket between Russia and America would be hard for them. Before they left, I made a promise to Erin that I would find a way to raise money for her plane ticket, and this pathway just fell through. Like stated in the beginning: this is a fundraiser first, and a world record attempt second.

The plane tickets vary around $1000, but my goal is to raise at least $1500 in pledges and donations. This will ensure that there is enough money to buy a plane ticket if she can come back next summer, and give a little extra for her travel expenses. It is not 100% sure that Erin can come back next summer, even if we raise the money for her to. Our goal here is to make sure that money is not the determining factor for her return. If a trip to the United States in not possible next summer, the money will still go to support Erin and her family.

More info about the Schroeder’s mission can be found at www.RussianJourney.net

Feel free to ask me any more questions if you would like, but I’m not sure how much I can answer during the later part of this event because sleep deprivation might be getting to me

Thank you for your donations!!!

This is no BS. I'm well aware of Revelations 21:8 and I wish that some of you were too.

Oh and I was also planning on having a personal info sheet about me and Derek so that people would know what kind of people are doing the event. For the same reasons, I really dont know how I'll be with 40 hrs sleep deprivation. I can post that up too, if you like, or just e-mail me at [email protected] if you're really interested.

Thanks a bunch for all those supporters

Your saying beginner mode isn't easy...?

There is no flaming here so far. Your doing it for a good cause- which is very good. But your trying to hype it up to look like some ultimate challenge that no one else but you can even attempt, when in reality at least 10% of this board could do it if they really wanted to. I just played Heavy Nonstop for 5 hours today- yes, was quite tired, but it was heavy, not to mention playing quite a bit of 10 foots in there, and some doubles. Beginner has what, 1/5th the steps?

As Zero Wing mentioned, any professional track runner could break 40 hours like it was nothing. Even if it was their first time ever playing the game. I could to- but I have no reason to, and I doubt I could get my arcade operator to let me use the machine for 2 days free just to play beginner mode which no one will watch me on anyways.

Your doing it for a good cause- but seriously, stop thinking your so great. Your attacking everyone who is calling it anything but hard, you aren't as great as you think are you buddy.

Best of luck with your friend from russia though, hopefully she will be able to fly over to meet you.

I never said it was an impossible task that only I can do because I've been preparing for this for years, I'm just saying it's not as easy as some people may think it be, and I find it annoying that people giving self-praise saying that its nothing.

A lot of you are probably better than me, I can survive catas and pies, but AA's and AAA's on them? I have no chance. I'm also sure that more than 10% has the ability to do this, but how many of them have done it?? Drew. Thats all I know.

Heavy's for 5 hours is great, I'd probably be struggling after 2 hours. Like it's been posted before, its a completely differnt test of abilities with 40 hours. Just because you can run a 10 miles in under an hour doesnt mean that you can walk around the world. It may increase your chances, but its not for sure. This is a test of sleep deprivation tolerance, focus, and pre-empetive planning, not straight up DDR skills.

Bah? hype? glory?
Did I ever say that I was better than anyone else? Hell, I'm really not sure that I can do this yet, I'll only know when I try. I didn't even start this topic, my friend did. And if you really read the first post, he was just asking for tips and advice. Nothing like "Praise me the almighty DDR king who will break the most impossible world record ever!!!" The rest was in response to people either giving advice and support or to people attacking the event. I'm not that insipid to think I'm better than everyone else.

Anyways, it's late and I should be going to bed soon, the event is in 2 days. Holy crap!! Sorry if I seem offensive, the stress sometimes gets to me. Planning for this is probably harder than the event itself. IDK, we'll see in due time.

$928 if I reach 40 hours, and I have a lot of ppl to hit up for money tomorrow biggrin.gif

Any of you guys in the area to watch? PM or E-mail me, and I'll give you all the info. Peace out E1.gif

For Khan There, Sleeping FOr 3 Days Straight Probably Wont help. If Anything it Could make it Worse As It Will Lead To "Oversleeping" Had It Happen Many Times Before.

it is about 33 hours until the record attempt and im getting a bit daunted, i went to nickel mania where the event is being held, and every that i was playing with said they would come to support us E15.gif This is goingto be totally mental, so i just hope that i can have the determination to carry on through out the full 40 hours. I bought some fat burning pills or some poopy that helps me perform better and be more focused, i tried it out last night and it helped you sooo much, but i got supper bad charlie horses in both legs at the same time ont he pad :X

Well, I'm gonna put in my 2 cents, buy pain relievers!!! Not that pill crap, get some icy-hot or ben gay or somethin, trust me, it'll help when you get further in. Drink somethin like gatorade before you do it, you'll need to hold electrolytes, but not water, so don't eat much salty food. Get a good nights sleep, and I hope you can see Erin next year!!! thumb.gif
And most of all, after you're done, beerchug.gif , provided you're of age...
anyways, GOOD LUCK!!!
