I was thinking over some ways to get them to shine like I see in some pictures. I had used galvanized steel so I had all the speckles and very little shine. It finally hit me, I remembered that the Brasso I had from my ROTC days worked on other metals so I tried a little out on the side and low and behold it ate through the galvanized zinc plating and shined the steel up nicely. After shining it up with that stuff and getting the grime off of it I was able to see myself in it. I don't remember seeing this tip posted anywhere I've seen, but trust me it works great. Brasso isn't that expensive either. I hope this helps some of you out with shining your pad. |

Oh, so thats the secret that ddrhomepad once talked about. He said that if you ever sent him any money for his idea ( I lost the link to his geocities site ) that he'd tell you how to make your pads shiny. Now we know! Brasso! |

If any of you have had trouble with the Brasso, just keep at it, after I did it the first two times and got most of the galvinization and other junk off I played for a while and got it all scuffed up. I found it much easier to shine though because scuffs come off pretty easily. So it won't be as hard to shine as it is the first time everytime. It looks really good too. |

I was going through my old posts and I remembered this topic...
I wanted to post that over time I had some problems with the Brasso solution over the fact that it scuffs back up *really* easily. I cannot think of any really good way to protect the shine better though. So I guess unless you want to buy some sort of shined sheet metal then you'll just have to keep shining it everytime it gets dirty. |

why not spray some sort of clear coat over it? a couple layers of polyurethane should keep it shiney. |
