I am convinced that somebody high in charge at Chevrolet is into DDR.

First. their recent campaign is phrased as "The American Revolution"
as seen on Chevy's home page http://www.chevrolet.com/

2nd. the new Chevy Malibu is the "Malibu Maxx"
http://www.chevrolet.com/malibu/

Okay, if it was only that, we might be able to say that it's a coincidence...

But.

we have a luxury car produced by Chevy called the "SSR"
http://www.chevrolet.com/ssr/

And finally, we have the Chevy Blazer Xtreme "

Too much to be a coincidence ?[/i][/u]

i'm pretty sure the blazer xtreme is a coincidence, seeing how it was Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME, not Xtreme.
but "the american revolution", "SSR", and oh so blalant "malibu maxx" seem like something obvious only to DDRers. but i do agree that someone high up in chevy might play ddr.

the american revolution had nothing to do with ddr.. there are Xtreme sports its just called ddr extreme(theres no real reason behind extreme.. its just there) and SSR has nothing to do with DDR its just two letters and an R.. i think someones a little obsessed

Actually, no they are not.

It's all coincidence. Just because Chevy's catch phrase for the time being is "An American Revolution", cars named "SSR" and "Malibu Maxx, and then there's the Blazer Xtreme which has been around before DDR Extreme came out, does not mean the higher-ups at Chevy are into DDR. And even if they were, what difference does it make?

Well, being something of a car buff as well as a DDR nut, I'd like to say this is pretty much bogus. I read Car & Driver, Road & Track, Motor Trend, various car websites, etc. and the idea of a Chevy/DDR crossover never crossed my mind First, and most easily debunked is the Chevy SSR. The SSR is retro in many, ways, from its styling to the name. SSR in Chevy's case stands for "Super Sport Roadster," and it's a throwback to line of performance vehicles Chevy has had for decades known as Super Sport or SS models. 1964 Impala SS... *drool* Erm, ahem!

Anyway, as for the Malibu Maxx, I think Chevy is just jumping on the "X" bandwagon a little too late. The Blazer Xtreme? Well, that was announced as a concept in 1999 and came out in 2001, 2 years before DDR Extreme. I suppose you could link the Blazer Xtreme with X-Treme, who did A Minute and My Fire, but X-Treme isn't exclusively a DDR artist, so that doesn't really count. By the way, just thought I'd let you know Schick also has a razor called the Xtreme3, further evidence of a coincidence.

Finally, for the slogan, that's really, really clutching at straws. I bet in the last five years there's any number of products and companies whose slogan involved the word "Revolution" somewhere. Hell, when DDR Extreme came out, it came with a decorative panel that said "D.D.R. Generation Next" on it. "Generation Next" was also a slogan for Pepsi sometime in the mid or early 90s if I remember correctly. It's all just coincidences. Now, if Chevy offered a car called the Naoki, with trimline names like RevenG, NW260, De-Sire, and it offered a choice of 1.80, 1.90, or 5.73 liter engines, then I'd say someone at Chevy likes DDR, perhaps too much. laugh.gif
