To change the difficulty level in GF 5th Mix, hold Green and hit the pick twice at the song menu. It'll cycle through Basic, Advanced, and Extreme.

Let's see, difficulty selection in GF 4th...

Basic in the newer versions translates to just selecting plain old Normal, Expert, or Bonus Track modes in 4th.

Advanced is like turning on the Extreme modifier in 4th Mix. In Normal, Expert, or Bonus Track, do RBPGRBPG.

Extreme mode from the newer games is the same as Extreme+ in 4th Mix. At the mode select menu, do BGBGPRRRGB. Select either Extreme+ or Bonus Track Extreme+.
