|
|
I was just wondering what the initial reactions that other people got from their friends or family when they first started playing DDR.
My friends and I are pretty into it, although I think I'm the most hardcore(I'm such a geek, but proud of it!) We all started at the same time so were all about at the same level.
My parents worried about what would happen to the house with all the jumping, but it hasn't fallen down yet so they've been quiet about it.
When my younger brother found out that I ordered it a year ago he stated: "That's a game they made in Japan for little girls!" Well, he and all of his friends must be little girls becuase they're all playing it. DDR, it's like a virus, it spreads without mercy.
Well, that's it. I was just curious as to the other reactions that people got when they started playing DDR. |

My brothers and sister still trip out that people hold tournaments for DDR, and they're surprised I've won one. My mom loves it because it's a form of exercise.

My mom and dad both really like DDR, and they'll even drive us to tournaments with some of our friends. And my brother's better than me at DDR, so obviously he likes it too.
And I made most of my friends through DDR, so though none of us really like it as much as we did a couple years ago, we still hang out and do things together. _________________

I've gotten mixed reactions. My parents and neighgbors think it's great, while my one set of grandparents hates it because it shakes the house too much. my close friends love it and some of my distant friends diss it so I give em a lashing with my silver tongue that usually ends with them in tears. |

My family loves it! They have supported me all the way. My mom doesn't care that I talk about it alot! She even somtimes gives her opinions on it! My dad thinks its the greatest thing in the world, and is extremely happy we bought a copy. My friends think it rocks. Every friend that comes over to my house I've taught them to play or started them off at least. So DDR is like the blessing in my life! _________________

I've gotten mixed reactions from those I know.
My parents wonder why I spend so much money on DDR (imported PS2 and mixes, US PS2 and mixes, metal pads, all of which I don't use because I spend $40 or $50 a week at the arcade), but they're cool with it. My uncles and stuff think it's the stupidest thing ever, but they just don't quite get it...
Some of my friends think it's gay, but they also are the lazy ones who would rather smoke and do nothing. The rest of my friends are all addicted now. _________________

Mixed feelings. It's loud, but it's fun. I made my parents play it. :> Hehee. _________________

Lots of my friends play it, but the ones who don't don't think it's the dumbest thing ever.
My family has never seen me play, but my parents address it as "wasting money in the arcade", or "that game you play". _________________

Well I have 2 sets of friends now. The friends that like and play ddr alot and my other friends who think ddr is retarded and blame me when they see it on tv.
The set of friends that don't play ddr are more into playing madden and other online games such as Socom 2.
My parents are sick of DDR. They think I play too much, I ignore them usually when they doggy about it. _________________

I've infected everyone I know with the DDR virus. I haven't gotten any negative feedback at all. |

I'm addicted and so are many of my friends. Many of us use the homegame to keep in shape and as a weight-loss regimen. I'm the only one who will play in the arcade, tho.
Now if I could drag my husband on the pad more often a good time would be had. He's self-conscious about his weight and thus dislikes playing in the arcade. |

I have one friend who I play with.
Some of my other friends have the whole joke of "It's not a video game," but they have actually said it's cool.
Then there's some of my other friends and most of my family who just openly discourage it. |

Some of my family/friends think it is gay. When I mean gay, I mean gay as in GLBT (and others), not 6|-|31 as in stupid. My dad even went so far as to call every IM conversations, all anime conventions, and DDR tournaments as gay breeding grounds. He was utterly convinced that all people interested in what I am interested are gay.

this is gonna be fun
- all my parents like it (parents divorced and remarried different people)
- last year not too many friends were happy about it, but.....
- i did ddr freestyle routines with my ddr buddy in our schools talent show, and we were a hit, nobody was making fun of it at all, we made some new friends, and i got a girlfriend out of it (i made a topic about this whole talent show in the gameplay forum somewhere)
- family friends are amazed
- ive taught at least 10 people how to play
its been good |

my brother thought it would be gay but now he plays, my parents don't care and they think i look funny when i do heavy songs lol, now i am gonna make admin angry and get another point by putting a lot of smileys
[Mod's note: You're not making us angry. You're just violating the rules. That's the way it goes. Oh, and I deleted the smileys. Good day. - JTF] _________________

My family all love it. My Mother plays it ever night for a half hour, my little brother plays a lot and is getting pretty good, and even my baby sister (whose three) tries to play. Once, I even got my dad to play, but he claims he dislikes it but I think he's lying. Most of my friends are also really into it, but there are still a few that think it's stupid and a waste of time. _________________
