Wasted money? You passed out while playing, its not like its your fault. It would actually be REALLY RUDE if somone jumped on to your game if you passed out.

Look man, this guy was warned already YESTERDAY. Don't go around assuming nobody has been warned just because you don't see it. Click on his profile and find out how many warning points he has. Geez.

Exactly 5 warning points for this guy over here ! Shiet...no wonder disgust.gif

I may be somewhat late on this topic but this is indeed a sad story. It's hard for people like this girl to think that they're doing ok and then bam it hits them hard and painful.

I send my condolence to this girl and her family.

I hope people dont think the heart failure was caused by DDR, becuz then people will stop playin it and then the arcades will take it out cuz its not makin them money

Something like that happened up here (the same "idea")

A really fat guy wanted to ride a rollercoster and i guess they thot he was strapped in but he busted it open cuz hes blub....or sumthing? idk exactly....but he fell out at the top of the coster and died.....

so it wasnt cuz the rollercoster wasnt safe, just he wasnt using it properly...kinda lol

Just wondering. I sweat too easily while playing DDR. In fact I usually already have a sweatline forming on the collar of my shirt after playing Ecstacy as my very first song of the day. Does weight affect how hard/often you sweat?

Btw I'm 6'2 and 230 lbs. And I play Heavy all the time, save for a few 10-footers such as MAX300 or PARANOiA Survivor.

That would really be quite traumatizing x_X...poor girl's probably not going to be playing DDR anytime again soon...but at least she has the medication and whatnot now, so it's probably not too likely, or at least as likely to happen.

...hate to say it, but I wonder what song she was actually playing? What difficulty? (Turns out she was play an 800-step Kakumei edit...lol...man my heart would stop beating... E2.gif )

This whole thing just goes to show people not to push themselves too far. Instead of doing Max 300 four times over you could break and drink something to become hydrated. While she really didnt have a choice to do such a thing more things can be prevented if people just used common sense.

And my sympathys go out to her.

I have seen people collapse while playing DDR twice. One guy had an asthma attack, and another one had sudden sharp pain in the knee, which had a recent operation. It happens, in any sport.

And no, nobody had a dumb idea to jump on and finish the song.. Both times everyone who saw it, started helping, and both people got medical attention as soon as possible.

it all just goes to show you, DDR is just like playing sports. you gotta have a type of plan when you play, warm up with easier songs, and then progress into harder songs. i'm glad to hear that this girl is safe after what happened to her, and i hope it doesn't turn her off of DDR forever

personally, i've developed a lot of stamina myself, so i can play lots of oni courses in a row on a good day, but of course, i drink a lot of water and/or gatorade while i do that. but before i play hardcore like that, i warm up with a set of 7-footers or something, just to get the blood flowing and all. i think we can all take something positive from this, and know that even if it's DDR, something bad could happen if you don't take care of yourself

my best wishes to kimber wilson. let's not wish ill on her, people. if it happened to you, i'm sure you wouldn't want people wishing ill on you either

the heart condition is hypertrophy cardiomyopathy, it has nothing to do with being over weight, or out of shape…

The heart problem is genetic!!!! it has nothing to do with the game, or what she was doing... she could have dropped just sitting to eat dinner.

Kimber was on the game, but hadn’t even taken her first step.

Kimber is doing well, and is home now. She is a little shocked that this story has mad it all over the net… and thinks it’s kinda crazy.

Sexx, please re-read the story and then look up what hypertrophy cardiomyopathy REALLY is…

Actually, they found out that she in fact didn't choke, it was a brain problem or something like that, the taffy (Gum) had nothing to do with that death at all.

What the heck? The song didn't even start. Why does it even matter?

Anyway, I'm glad she's doing well. I hope she appreciated her 15 min of fame tongue.gif

Ahh, I was more curious if she was a regular player or someone trying it for their first time. You know, it seemed from the article like she didn't do it a lot, but I didn't know. I'd feel a lot worse if she loved it and wasn't sure about playing it now than if she had played it the first time and had a problem.

Kimber doesn't really remember what the song was. she doesn't even remember the day... it was her first time on DDR. The game room open the day before and she wanted to get on it but the line was too long. On the 22 she got on the game and did the first song, then her friend got on and did a song. Kimber got back on and I don't even think the song started, before she feel to the floor....

gunslinger jetz... she dose know about this thread and she is reading it now....

Thanks J Dogg

I won't make any cracks about the freeze in Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~, or anything like that. This is a real shame, especially for someone so young who ought to be allowed to be full of vital energy and vigor. The world is a terrible place, and even moreso if one comes up short during a particular drawing in the genetic lottery that is zygote development.

Life is a hopelessly transitory affair, and we might do well to remember that even in our moments of giddy fun. We might not all brush the chill knuckle of death at the arcade, but we are certainly imperiled with disconcerting frequency.

In other words, do your best to enjoy life, but don't take it for granted. The breath leaving your lips now is not an absolute assurance that another is forthcoming.

Everyone told me not to ride the Raging Bull because I might die because of the incident with the girl. Well I didn't ride the Raging Bull but did find Pump It Up and DDR Extreme. erm.gif E15.gif

damn, everyone is quoting everyone, its almost on each page E19.gif

the point is...
1)hopefully no one wishes bad on the girl.

2)it depends how closely related your life is to something like this in order for you to actually feel more than others. those with family who have these problems dont like a joke because it hurts them more than ppl who have never experienced it.
