back in late 2001 early 2002 i saw some people playing DDR, doing stuff like afronova on light. Now, i NEVER made fun of them, ever, and i really liked it although i never had the courage to try myself. I saw it a while later (late september) and decided to try it (the machine was DDR USA) and its funny because, you know how newbies dont automaticly get the subject of the game? i was FCing songs on beginner mode E4.gif

i found another place that had 3rd mix plus and it started from there E1.gif

My friend was hooked on DDR forever. I knew her for a year and we met up one day last month at the arcade. She asked me to play with her. I tried it willingly, always thought it looked weird yet fun. I was instantaneously hooked. That same day I had DDRMAX2 and a dance mat ordered. And here I am one month later already managing some Heavy songs.

I was at a birthday party in May 2002, and I saw some guys (a couple who would turn out to be some of my friends as time passed on) playing PIU. I was interested, and bought a soft pad, DDR USA, and DDR Disney Mix. That's how it started... I'd later go to an arcade and play 3rd Mix, run into a lot of local people at a tournament... and the list goes on. I'm grateful for the things DDR brought to my life.

Well it all started at Frys riiight.gif Cause it was free. Me and my friend went there for some games and then we saw DDRMax. So I was so excited cause I wanted to try it. Well since I was a noob back then, I didnt know how to work the controls. So I accidently played Remember You and it was girlish song I walked away, but few days later I came back. I played light mode and how i played was kind of funny. I just kept hopping up and down which was sort of a good start. But as I progressed i gotten better and bought myself a pad and konamix then max then max2. I started like a 1year and 1 month ago. Now everytime i see and play remember you on heavy. I feel real good E4.gif

For me, it started back in 2001...

Squiggly wavy lines...

One of my friends at college was the type that had far too much money for his own good, loved videogames, and always bought something that seemed new and trendy. So, when DDRUSA was released on the Playstation, he, of course, instantly bought it and hooked it up in the lobby of our buiding so everyone could try it. When I passed Boom Boom Dollar, I was hooked.
About a year later, I bought metal pads of my own and later got a Japanese PS2 so I could play more DDR. About six months ago, I finished college, and now I am at the local arcade every day.

ah yes.....i remember it like it was yesterday.....hehe. anyhoo, i started about 3 1/2 years ago when my best friend's brother randomly found a DDR first mix for PS. we thought, "hey, why not?" cuz we are both in theatre and musicals. i failed miserably my first attempts, but something about the game made me want to keep going. so, i bought my own pad and a copy of konamix and became what some people might call "obsessed" after a little while. then, when we were at six flags a little bit later on, i went into the arcade and noticed that they had a DDR 3rd mix machine and decided to show off a little bit. (woot woot.....showing off basic difficulty skillz lol) but the crowd that i got even for that was something that i really like b/c i never get crowds in arcades or anywhere else for that matter. so, i kept playing and playing until i got as good as i am now. and i am hopefully still improving. *knock on wood*

(year(s) ago) I was watching king of the hill where the overweight kid made a girlfriend by playing a DDR type game...... if only that could happen in real life... THen at my local arcade there was this game, Dance Dance Revolution Extreme ' odd name ' i ts like that thing i saw in the FOX show! Where there was this man (20s) that was just moving supperfast inbeat to some techno music i couldn't understand the words. thought it was cool but i know i couldn't do it. Well weeks latter i was watching South Park, where the was this asain kid that was playing.. .GAH there it is again!! so i was walking down a diffrent mall and turned to an arcade with, none other than DDR right at the entrance. i enserted $.75 and chose begginer (my first time!) well i saw arrows at the bottom of the screen and started hitten them, i didn;t know what to do!

YAWN stay tunned latter when i type the second part of my post:

THE NOT AS LONG AND NOT AS BORING STORY AbOUT WHEN I GOT DDR MAX2; the tale of a newb@

I myself started 2 years ago when I was burning a hole in my pocket at EB. They had thier little PSOne with the monitor hooked up at the desk. I picked it up and a demo for Konamix was on. I tried it and instantly loved it, even on a controller. (I love music games ^^) I found out about the pad and such and got it a couple weeks later. What was funny though was for about a year I thought PARANOiA basic was humanyly impossible. (I hadn't been to an arcade with it or seen good people since about 4 months ago) I didn't hit Trick mode till about a year and some months after playing it (I know how you feel slow learner). Now my friends tell me to shut up as I attempt to discuss it every day... ^,^

Let's see.. I started playin about 2 1/2 months ago. One of my best friends had had it for a while before me but I never really played with her - I just knew she was pretty good. Then, one day, we were both at an arcade (that, lo and behold, had a DDR) and she made me play with her. Instantly, I was hooooked. I had money saved up (not for anything in particular), so I went out and bought DDRMAX2 for PS2 and a pad. So after 2 1/12 months, I'm on standard. Go me.

D00d, I remember dunk22 (light) when I first started. That song was HARD. I recall playing that ending like 30 times in training mode. Max300 light HA forget that. I watched the heavy steps scroll up in horror.

My ddr legacy began Marlboro. It was a bright sunny afternoon and my friend wanted me to try ddr. I was like "No way man that game is ghey" But I tried it anyways. I instantly began addicted and I couldn't stop playing! The day after I bought the game along with a dance pad. From there I went to the local arcade on and off and got where I am now. Now I'm a DANCIN' MASTA.

i first played because rampage kept asking me if i wanted to. so, i did it to shut him up initially. this was back in late 2001. i don't remember the mix, but he accidentally hit afronova as the song. yikes! i was scared! i would play a few games here and there. i started playing "for real" in march 2004. I was at putt putt with one of my friends 2 years ago. I saw two guys who at the time were insanely good (and I hear still play at the same putt putt). They were playing some 6 or 7 on standard. I thought, "HA! I CAN DO THIS!" I hopped on and went straight to heavy. I chose LoM. I got a AAA on it my first time!!

....Ok, as nice as that would be here's the truth.
Graduation
Beginner
Failure.

I forgot about DDR and about a year and a half later saw it at the movies. I was ready!

The song: We will rock you.
The level: Light
The Grade: Failure....I might've gotten one perfect if that.

The 15 people crowded around me left whispering in each other's ears. I was furious! I vowed that some day I would get revenge on this DDR! Another 6 months later I decided I must tame the beast! I begged my parents to get me DDR for Christmas, and they agreed. Just last December. The legacy began. I worked in this harsh climate, suffering many hours to reach the top of the mountain known as DDR! Now, 7 months later, I can almost pass MaxX Unlimited (failed about 3 seconds before the end, WHY GOD?!?!).

and that's my overdramatized story of my DDR legacy.
