Versus mode, definitely. Somehow two people playing together draws huge crowds. And of course 10 foots. Put those two together (two people having a battle on PSMO) and you get an initially empty arcade filled with like 20 people who literally came in off the street to watch in the time that it takes PSMO to run through (I saw this happen once although I still can't even pass PSMO *fume* )

LoM seems to work better than Max 300 though (prolly something about the way that it builds up and the chains get longer and longer and finally peak at that utterly insane stream at the end ... Max 300 is kinda all over the place)

Failing that, HVAM. Something about massive doublestepping seems to draw people in (or crazy spinning if your name is Usagi). CSFILSM does seem to work though ... that's probably down to its non stop streaming.

You're right. But the reason why versus is an attention-grabber is because of the uncanny synchronization people can't help but to notice. So most of 'em go watch to see how much they do while remaining in-sync.

Yeah you're right about LoM doing better justice because of the gradual increase in intensity...while the whole thing is intense to begin with. But I think it's mostly when the player is on-beat, because then, it's just plain cool to listen to the step patterns. I know I like watching people play LoM for it. When I play, I dunno how many times I hear people say "Wooah" when I build up all the way to that mid-freeze and pick up again.

I think HVAM is a great notice because of the last stream of steps and the song itself. Maybe it's the subliminal beeping, or the nice-looking blue-lighting effects that dominate the background. Who knows, who cares? HVAM is awesome!!

For somebody I know it would be Maxx Unlimited on Heavy. People that didn't know him were taking pictures of him and his feet. LoL. He actually told me that he got videotaped a couple of times also. He said that he got on the internet. I think that's terrible!

mine:
song (difficulty, reason):

A (heavy, because of the runs)
321 stars (heavy, because to them it looks incredibly fast)
HVAM (heavy, because people always wonder how anyone can tell where the pauses and speed changes are)
DAIKENKAI (heavy and then oni, because of the runs)
butterfly (oni, because i can always fc it)
Dam Dariram (heavy, because the oni steps suck)
Drop out (heavy, speed does the trick)
Dead end (heavy, long runs)
R&P (heavy, long runs crossovers and gallops)
Tsugaru (heavy, see above)
Saint goes marching (heavy, same reason)
twilight zone (heavy, skips and the popular song itself)
kakumei (heavy, the run toward the end)
candy* (heavy, no idea why)
V (heavy and oni, 16th notes)

Drop Out (Ending runs always gets 'em.)

Unfortunately I live in El Paso, TX. Everyone notices, La Copa De la Vida, and La Bamba, as well as We are the Champions and We Will Rock You. The two Queen songs are the most picked by beginners. Rather annoying.

From most crowd-getting to least crowd-getting for me,

The best one, if i'm on 3rd mix, Vol. 4 by Raver's choice. Since it's a cover of popcorn (biggrin.gif hot butter!) than tons of middle aged people walking by would be like "I HAD THAT RECORD IN COLLEGE!" and watch.
HVAM
CSFIL:SM
Rhythm and Police
Daikenkai
So deep
Drop out (I think the song makes people stay away)

Once my parents had a party with all their friends from some air force in germany thing that they were in, and then I just started playing Captain Jack and 2 Unlimited songs with my friend on heavy and within a few minutes they were all watching us on DDR.

Exotic Ethnic, Rhythm and Police, Can't Stop Fallin' in Love (Speed Mix), Healing Vision (Angelic Mix), and any ten at all will definitely get people's attentions if there are people around the machine at the time.

CSFILSM on DOUBLES is the real crowd-drawer E7.gif .

hear hear! i only play doubles when there's a crowd, and i *always* play that song, just because it's the most impressive thing i can do on doubles. (my doubles skills are limited to the easier arrow patterns). except for those cross-pad crossovers... erg

i was playing tonight, almost alone, then a whole horde of people came out of laser tag, and had their little resident champion issue me a challenge, so we played, and after 4 out of 5 songs, he just quit because he hadn't played in a while, and was really tired and out of shape. that was cool, we shook hands and introduced ourselves, then the 12-person-or-so crowd began to just blah blah blah to each other, as they had done since the previous game. so i have the 5th song to myself, time was running out and i chose legend (the game difficulty is set to default, 3 or 4). and i'm going along without the bar, and i'm in the slow section, and i'm thinking 'i'm going to shut them up, veryyy shortly', and i can only imagine the looks on their faces when i got to the section before the jumps at the end, and finished legend on my 5th stage, no bar biggrin.gif

it was gloooorious!
