hey. i havnt visited these forums in a few months... read last page about vortz pads... are they just like the BNS DX pads? i ordered 2 of the BNS ones for x-mas... played one for 4 months hardcore and it already has an arrow that sticks quite a bit. do the vortz pads perform better? and if so how are they better? id like a foam pad that lasts longer than my BNS one. luckily i have a backup DX pad to play on =)

I don't think you can get any better than a BNS or RO in the soft pad category. I'd say vortz is a better buy than BNS with very similar quality. If you have the hard foam from your dx pads, I'd get a v2.5 which is cheaper and replace the soft foam with the ones you have. v3.0 and v2.5 I believe use the same pad just different foam.

I have a question about modding, my DDR pad is starting to get bunched up in the middle layers and I remember seeing a website of soft pad modding that opens up the whole thing. Unfortunately, I didn't bookmark it and I can't find it anymore. If anyone could post a link for me that'll be great, thx!

Xbox devices are all USB devices with slightly different connectors, so all you need is an Xbox to USB 'converter' cable and XBCD.

I just got my Vortz 3.0 pads today [FAst shippin =] 4 days]

One of my Vortz pad is messed up =\ ...have to press really hard.

When comparing the Vortz to the BNS DX the BNS is better.

I don't know if it's because of the pad I got or it's just Vortz.

The BNS are much more sensitive.
I think it may be something about the Vortz arrow inserts..they seem thicker than BNS's arrow inserts. Because the thicker they are you have to press harder so the pressure goes through. I don't know what material the arrow inserts are made out of.

I played Healing Vision Angelic Mix Heavy and my BNS pads are better.

On my BNS pads I usually use my hand to press start and junk which works fine.

But on the Vortz I have to actually push my fingers through the insert.

I'll have more info later...

I played on a levelsix.com ignition pad and had a similar experience you had when comparing it to BNS. I bought v2.0 ignition pads (soft foam) from discount-auction ebay seller, which turned out to be DDRNation pads, and those play much more like BNS pad, though the durability doesn't seem the same.

My Vorts 3.0 pads took a couple days to get worn in. The buttons at first arent very sensitive, but after a day or two of moderate play they became very sensitive. I just had to wear the buttons down a little. But then again, yours sound like you have to put all your weight on the buttons for it to register, so maybe you should send it back. E19.gif

Not any good and it will break in the very near future (meaning weeks). If thats the only pad you can get your hands on, you should mount it to plywood and cover it with plastic do make it last a little longer. Instructions to the mod is in the first post on the first page of this topic.

When you like DDR more and want to get better, you should take a look at ignition pads by RedOctane, BuyNShop, and ebay (online retailers).

My BNS DX just came in the mail. I was wondering what mods I might consider? I've read a lot of this thread, and couldn't get a good feel for what mods one should apply to ignition pads (esp the BNS one with its thick foam).

What the general opinion on whether the chair mat mod, or any others, should be applied to this pad?

That pad does fine w/o any modding. If you want to reduce movement, you can mount it to plywood. The foam fits snuggly inside, so the chairmat mod wouldn't be possible.

If the pad is screwed (and it's just one) tell Vortz, send it back, he'll replace it. Factory defects happen.

I'm interested in modding my horrilbe dance pads -_-; and I've been looking at some other forums about it. Someone said that they used plywood, but when they stored it upright, all the sensors eventually moved to one side. Does this happen often?

I don't see that happening often. Cause the sensors are held within a plastic layer of the pad. And the only way they can move is if there was massive tearing from its base. The most appropriate resting positon for a pad is flat. Since they are horrible dance pads, don't expect miracles after modding. It's more like life-support for pads.

Haha, yeah. I know I'm going to have to replace them sometime soon, but I've only used them 2 times and I want to make them last as long as possible. Or at least until I can stop being a poor college student for a while riiight.gif
