now, that is probably the best title for drawing people in, because you can't resist the call of stupidity. But in all seriousness, here is the (probably incredibly stupid idea). I'm thinking of making a website that would be kind of like a community for people who would like to have their original music in DDR. Now it would probably work something like music would be made, everything done, put into mp3 format, and put up on the internet. Then, once a month, I'd e-mail a list of the links and song along with who each one is by to Konami. Anyways, it works out like this- the worst thing that happens- Konami doesn't even bother listening to any of the songs (likely, I know). but, that doesn't stop you from then having a good song that you made. and best case scenario- Konami accepts the song, and people like it. It goes on to become a favorite song of pretty much everyone. Doesn't that outweigh the amount of time you'd spend working on it in the first place?
Anyways, push comes to shove, we can always make stepfiles for the song and distribute them as DWI and stempmania files! So- There you have it, possibly one of the worst ideas you've seen in a long while? Interested? Then POST!

Hate to say it man, but this isn't gonna work. Konami does let fans contribute to Bemani games once in a while, but it's very, very infrequent. Some cases of this include Starmine and Abyss -The Heavens Mix- on the Beatmania IIDX games, which were made by a person known only as "Ryu". Another one is Paranoia Eternal, by STM. STM isn't Naoki. He has his own webpage and I've downloaded some of his other stuff (like an odd, minor-key evil remix of Candy that I call Candy Black Star) I dunno, maybe you could count when they held auditions for BeForU, but that's stretching it. Even if you were able to overcome all this, there's still the language barrier. Saying, "Here's a collection of songs made by American fans of DDR. Why don't you listen to them and see what you think? If you like one of them enough, you can put it on DDR or other Bemani games," requires more than Babelfish.

Bah, just make DWIs or SMs for those songs that you want to do. Konami won't take everything since they then have to license them if they wish to put them in their games for release.

As fun as it would be, it would basically turn into a user-submission dwi/sm site, since on top of the fact that Konami hates us Americans and isn't exactly jumping to give us what we want, you also have to face the fact that there probably won't be another arcade mix for them to put the songs on. The best I can imagine is having this stuff appear on Ultramix song packs, which, if I remember, is something you can already make suggestions for.

Nonetheless, it's not a terrible idea, so I would say go for it and see how it goes before calling it a day.
