nyah.Well I snagged a network adapter for $20(on sale) and a seagate harddrive that fits in the adapter.I've got one question, though. Is the harddrive supposed to show up in the PS2's browser?I want to know if the official drive or any Maxtor drives show up there. _________________

You need to format the hard drive to be able to use it. Without buying Sony's PS2 HDD, I'm not sure how you're going to get a hold of it.
Find out if a friend can bring it over if he/she has one?
If not, the HD Loader can format hard drives for PS2 use. _________________

I'm sure that this has already been asked a billion times, but I just plain can't find the answer anywhere. The Breaker Pro used with fliptop disc does play import PS1 games, right? From what I understand, the only DDR games it won't are the append discs... right? Thanks,

Club Appends are a royal doggy to make work. Even most stealth psx chips will have trouble with them, because they won't wake up for the append.
I suggest getting an old psx if you can find one for them. the psone may work, but you may need a BIOS reploacement to let it play jap games.
anyway,. here's my DDR Swap Trick Guide.
Playing Jap DDR Games on an unmodified US PSX.
Swap Trick 101
You need to fool your machine into thinking it's always closed. Use a opaque plastic tab for a PsOne, or a spring/weight/soemthing or other for a PSX. On a psone, there's a tab on the lid that goes into a slot. that's the sensor, inside that slot. On the PSX, there's a little button in the back right corner, which is pressed by a plastic spike.
You also need a game that will boot normally. You will need to have easy access to both. Keep one game in hand and the other game in the PSX til you are done.
Swap Trick 202
First boot with the normal game in. Watch the CD. It will suddenly speed up a few seconds into the "white screen." At this time, quickly grab the CD by placing one finger very gently on the spindle, and using your thumb to pop off the CD. You must do this with a quick motion. Lift the CD and quickly put the DDR game in. It will spin up if you are fast enough. If you are too slow, you must start over. If you do it right, in a few seconds, the black screen will come up.
Now the game is about to load the boot program on the CD. It will slow down, then speed up. Then, after about mabe 5 seconds or so, it will make a short "buzz" sound, and start to slow down. As soon as you hear the buzz, pull the DDR game out, and put your normal game BACK IN. Wait for the black screen to go away, then quickly put the DDR game back. You've now completed the double swap. This works for DDR 1st mix PSX. This game DOES have anti-mod code, but it's an early version, and doesn't peform the check that's supposed to pass, onl ythe one that should FAIL.
Swap trick 303
If you try this with later games, you will get the "this console may have been modified" screen! But fear not, you can bypass this by doing the "extra swap". To do this, wait till something appears on the screen after the black screen vanishes. It's usually a screen with a box and japanese text, but sometimes it's english text, and for 3rd mix it appears to be a warning screen. When you see this, pull out your DDR game, and insert your normal game once again. Then, exit the memcard screen. If this is the first time you booted, you will get prompts. you must answr them to create the save. If this is not the first time, the screens will go away by themselves. Once you are out of the memcard screen, and the screen blanks once more, remove your normal game, and put your DDR game back in.
Swap Trick 404...
This is the trickiest one. booting one of those Club Appends. First, boot 3rd mix. (people who have not graduated from Swap Trick 303 need not apply) 2nd mix MAY work, but i make no guarantees. 3rd mix DOES work.
Now, select the disc change option, and then select "club Append"
The disc will stop. remove the disc, and insert a NORMAL US GAME.
Remove the thing you used to block/press the sensor, and then put it back in. You need to make the PSX think you opened and closed the lid. The disc will spin up, and stay spinning.
Wait about 10 seconds, just to be safe. I dont' know what the needed delay is, but 10 seconds is plenty, and it is impossible to wait too long.
Now, pull out the normal game, and QUICKLY put in the Club Append. Wait for it to spin up.
Press Start.
Wait. A "now loading" screen will appear. Continue to wait.
Soon, a memcard screen will appear. Well, you graduated Swap Trick 303, you should know what to do here. Yup, it's the Extra Swap!

Backups and anti-mod codes.
The later DDRs for PSX use libcrypt. Whether or not you have good backups affects which anti-mod codes yo uneed to use. CLoneCD and ALcohol 120% make good backups on supported hardware. These need one set f anti-mod codes. If you have a bad backup (without libcrypt info) you need a different set of codes. Only clean backups of libcrypt games will work with the extra swap! Otherise, you MUST buy a cherat device asnd enter those codes. _________________

yes but some people having problem with party collection ...
im geting a import ps2 soon so i dont have to deal with problems. bc my old ps2 flip top is messup, no thanks to myself for not taking better care of it....
I wish that modchip has a faster way to play import games without modchip or swap disc. (impossiable without swap or a chip).
psh on well time for me to order some ddr games and um.... ps2 white import ... peace... _________________

i was searching ebay for junk and was checking out ddr stuff and i started to see DDR games i have never seen from the UK.
one for example is DDR UK(ironic eh?)
now these are on the PAL format for ps2 and here is my question.
im using a fliptop and a swap magic to play JP imports.....does that swap magic also boot PAL versions? or do i have to buy a seperate boot disk for that. if swap magic works to boot all formats i might pick up some of the pal games.
*****and to the guy having trob with party collection. please read up to my fix. I had a tech guy explain it to me why it works the other day. on out ps2 versions its one of the only ways i found it to work.******** |
