ps. im having soem probs with the pad. i can't hold the left arrow and press the right, or i cant hold the down arrow and press up, any ideas about this? im using a bns pad with the usb adapter they sell |
You don't have to cover the whole arrow, just the area the copper grid comes in contact is sufficient.
Super Dual Box adapter? You have to hold up+start+select for 3 seconds so the arrow keys map to buttons. Check it in the control panel/game controller properties. |

Hey, I played on a metal pad for the first time today after having a soft madcatz mounted on a wood board, and i was suprised how much better i did....
Anyway, I began looking for metal pads online. I realize that the Cobalt pads are like, amazing miracle devices that withstand shotgun blasts, tanks, and extreme temperatures =p kehe, but theyre a weeee bit too pricey for me.
then i found this on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21185&item=8112283652&tc=photo
whoa, thats a huge link! anyway... It seems like this isnt bad at all, the buttons are polycarbonate so they wont break like crappy acrylics. Im assuming it has a ps2 port because of the x and o buttons on it... I was just curious if it lights up, is a piece of crap, etc. etc. Questions I should probably ask the seller but i thought someone else might have gotten one, as I read here this seller is pretty reputable...
Feel free to give lots of helpful advice
Thanks a bunch,

Woah... I'm actually kinda tempted to buy it. Of course, I'd hafta save up for quite a while. A real custom dance pad... hmm... it's really tempting. _________________

That sounds like a pretty good idea. Judysdeals has been known to give good pads, I'm sure the pad itself is great after modding. But the bar is still iffy. It's really up to you, the "clones" have been known to lose their bar, but if Judysdeals bar is as good as the panels go for it! _________________

v1 had the Start and Select buttons as the bottom left and bottom right panels on the pad. It also had a 9 pin connector.
v2 has the Start and Select buttons on the control box, changing the bottom left/bottom right to Triangle and Square respectively. v2 also added a center switch panel for PIU players. |
uh...one question.......wouldn't be difficult to select a song in any DDR game if the start and select buttons were on the control box? i mean that would make the buttons tiny for feet to tap and u could easily break the control box by trying to push the button while standing up. just a thought.....i might be wrong on this but at least i wont' be anymore if someone answers.....; |

You can select songs using the circle button (up-right arrow), just as you can on any other pad. _________________

It may be different for all pads but do all of the pads that you can buy light up as well *as bright* as the arcade ones....
Kind of a dumb thing to look for when it comes to buying a pad but its on my little checklist of ebay metal pad shopping which maybe someone could comment on:
-Are the panels polycarbonate plastic? *yes is essential* ^^
-Is it 1.5 or 3 inches thick? *I assumeda 3inch might be sturdier and contain more high quality circuitry as 1.5 is just more compact... does it matter?*
-Do the arrow panels have LED lights? *must for me*
-does it have a bar? *it seems all 3in. have and the 1.5's dont, I really dont need a bar but i dont want to go to a 1.5 inch if im gonna lose out in stability/durability and overall quality.
just some thoughts |

I am in the market to buy a metal pad. Currently I am seeing what my options are besides getting a RO pad (CF is out of the question). I have read in this thread that two reputable sellers on eBay are JudysDeals and ngult.
I have also found an 8 panel pad that has polycarbinate buttons for $139 on GameEnhancer.net, and I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this seller and the pad they are selling. It seems to be a good pad for the money, but I'd like to find out more about it before I make my decision.
[EDIT]I just found out that GameEnhancer.net is ngult's website, so I guess it is a reputable. I'd still like to know if anyone has heard anything about the pads he is selling. |

Has anyone tried to make a Cobalt Flux more like an arcade pad? I've begun to play in the arcade a lot more and my Cobalt Flux is an absolute joke compared to real pads. With all the arrows level with the center you it's so much easier than having the arrows sunk. I'm thinking of building a sort of case to put over the pad that will make it more like a real one. Basically it would just be a thin piece of wood covered in sheet metal that would cover the the pad and have the proper shaped arrows cut out. It would have wood around the border that would sit flush against the sides of the pad (probably with a layer of felt on the inside or something) to keep it from sliding around the pad. Then I just leave it like that or put a base board underneath and screw it all together. I think it'd be pretty easy.. the only challenge would be the screws on top of the pad and the corner plates on the side. |
