Could this be a case of false advertisement, then? Or could it just be me misreading this...I didn't purchase it on that alone, but still, I did wonder if the Japanese EX had something we could possibly be overlooking.

False advertising.

You can *only* get link data from 5th mix, for DDR MAX through DDR EX.

I wouldn't say "False advertising". Never ascribe to malice what can be easily explained away by stupidity.

DDRMAX US touted "linking features". What did you have? You could trade edits between it and Konamix.

DDRMAX2 US also had "improved" linking features. What did you have? The same edit trading capability, and transferability of workout data.

The Japanese PS2 games also have these features, so "Edit/Link" makes me think that this is what they're talking about. Heck...if you wanted to really stretch the truth, you could say that User Support is a "linking feature".

This depends on whether or not you have saves on the memory card you want to preserve.

If YES:
Open one of the files from AaronInJapan. I recommend the .gme image. Select the individual file you're interested (probably CS 5th <> AM NEW), go to the File menu, and select Save Single Game (or something like that). Save this file somewhere (it should have a .mcs extension).

Now, pop your memory card into the DexDrive, go under the Memory Card menu, select Read MC Full. Once this finishes, select an empty slot, go to the File menu, select Load Single Game (or something like that). Find the .mcs file you made, load it. It should now appear in the list. Now, go to the Memory Card menu again, and Write MC Full. Voila, you're done.

If NO:
Open one of the files from AaronInJapan. Pop your MC in. Write MC Full. That's it.

Note that these instructions assume you've already configured PSXGameEdit to work with your DexDrive (or other MC peripheral).

If you *JUST* have EDIT Data, it will say "Now Pull out the memory card!" Because it doesnt load the edits on to the machine by default. The arcade operator does that.

my friend is going to copy his link data memory card for me, onto a blank memory card i've provided for him. he's already had lots of scores saved onto his memory card, some AAA's and stuff. (but his oni records suck, i don't think he's completed a course on there. damn speedmod whore!).

is there a way to erase the records and retain the link data? as if to start over from scratch to make my own records and such?

I think you can only do that on 5th Mix home version.

=====

I fucked around with the scores on my link data by adding light and standard scores on oni remix songs via hex editor. The machine didn't load the modified link data. frown.gif Fortunately I backed up the original link data, so it's all good.

Also, I can't seem to find the doubles scores anywhere in the file. E19.gif

is there anywhere outside of an arcade machine that you can view your saved arcade scores? and also, does it save oni or nonstop scores? when i get through playing either mode (a machine ranked course or not, neo naoki standard, or road of taq) is says don't touch the memory card, then to pull it out, so i imagine it saved somewhere, is there a way to view it?

As stated previously, you can use 5th Mix to view your scores, as well as to view your Internet Ranking passwords. However, your nonstop/oni scores are not saved - only IR passwords are saved.

It's probably because you didn't have a letter grade added for the score ranking you put in.

Didn't I put together a specification for the Max-type link data a few pages back? If not, I'll try to whip one up.

Find the spot in the file where the scores begin, and then go 4224 bytes beyond that point, and you should find them. That's where they'd begin *if* the first song you saved a record for has a Doubles record. If not, you might have to go further a bit...but you should easily recognize where the score tables go by the "FF" every 24 bytes.

o.. m.. g.. blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif goog.gif

It took me almost 3 hours to read through all the mem card faq and forums and browse the edit hacking thingy blink.gif
I am half cufussed perhaps

anyway, this guy in my arcade got the autosave feature on Extreme going for ppl's edits. I want to put my U.S. ps2 & game Max and Max2 edits up there. Ok... I need a dex drive, then DDREDITMAX, change the data to extreme jp version?, then load it onto my PS1 mem card?

I think my question is will DDREDITMAX be my simple magic ticket to taking a ps2 MC with US max/max2 data and transform the info to be put on my ps1card? disturb.gif erm.gif E19.gif

Uhm...I *guess* that could work. I hadn't thought of that. That's not the usual way to do it - usually, you need to use a hex editor, not DDReditMAX.

Give it a shot and let us know.

Anyone ever have trouble with files created in DDReditMAX and then working on the arcade machine that the header is created for. I recently wanted to upload the ONI steps for Love Love Shine, and while the file was saved for an Extreme Machine and it shows up on the card in the Dex Drive correctly, its not recognized by the machine itself. I even looked into the hex code and cannot see anything out of place. The machine and song code all appear to be correct. What else could be wrong.

It's because the current version/versions of DDReditMAX munge the Max2 header, and Love Love Shine is classified as a Max2 song.
