Some folks take a funny commercial seriously, and nitpick everything. The World Champion from China was obviously Sarcasm, not real you nitpickers

Its a bad way of doing sarcasm because it is pushing and ignorant stereo type. Maybe if they said the world champion from antarctica or vatican city, some place you would never expect, then the sarcasm might be clear and not walking that line. E1.gif

ok... heres an arguement to pull away from all this never ending i hate pump/this commercial/myself crap...

ive actually noticed alot of people who do play dancing games like the nike shox shoes... any particular reason why? i mean if the shoe is as light and helpful as many say... i may submit to commercialism and buy a pair...

so needless to say... this commercial did its job on me... i need new sneakers...

How about IT'S ALL MAKING FUN OF US! None of it is serious. The asian guy comes over to the US, some geeky looking average guy living in a trailer with his parents in Wisconsin, playing a game that most people think looks cool when people play well, but think it's too stupid to actually waste time on. It's all very sarcastic/stereotypical/mocking. It's funny, but quit taking it so seriously. And I'm sorry, but since Exceed came out, PIU is "exceeding" DDR big time, maybe not in sales/numbers of players, but the game looks better/is more polished/is more difficult. They also probably picked Winter since it's higher tempo, more recognizable to Americans, and somehow fits the commercial better. Also, I think the commercial is funny, I can laugh at myself. Since this is marketed to the athletic people buying these shoes around the country, I bet there are a lot more people laughing at it, too, since they all do "real" exercise.

How about we stop burning it so hard. It's no a "bad" commercial, and I don't think people who don't play ddr are gonna have a clue that it is PIU, they'll just be like "oh look, it's that weird dancing game I saw in the mall!" The commercial doesn't make people wanna play PIU, it makes poeple wanna play some sort of dancing game. And that guy is a geek, but we are too lol, we aren't all pimp, buff, HAWT, cool people, we are people who hang out at arcades and talk to friends, and sweat a lot lol.

I was shocked when I seen the commercial. I was like: "What in the hell is that...?" Then I was like "grr why didn't they use ddr?" But now I know why and I'm kinda happy now. laugh.gif Dont ask why but i'm a fruitcake.

I do not like PIU. I never really did. It was and to this day will always be In my book a rip off of DDR. Then I find out that a mix has Vivaldi's Four Season's in it. Granted its a classical song, but no one should believe they decided to do that originally without knowing konami did it. Okay. Now they do a commercial. Of all the Pump It Up songs, including Beethoven's Virus, they magically decide to choose the one song that is also in DDR. I will be brutelly honest, sickens me. That's me though.

" i played piu and i sucked ddr is way better. and as for the comercial it was kool that they atleast showed a dancing game in it to promote it most ppl whont kno witch one it is. but i would of been betta if they showed some1 playing ddr maxx unlimited or any of the maxx songs." KINGOFHEARTS.

I'm sooo stupid! At first I thought the song was Beethoven's Virus... I get those two mixed up a LOT... God, I'm such a dumbass. riiight.gif

Anyway, I like the commercial! Only because the first time I saw it, I heard the music from the dining room and ran into my bedroom only in time to see the two kids playing PIU. So, I didnt see the 'lets bring in the world champ from China' part...

So, my opinion on it... I wouldn't NOT watch it. E4.gif

In any case, this was not meant to be a "lets rip on PIU" thread. People who are talking about how "unrealistic" this commercial is... are paying a little too much attention over details that don't matter to the general public. Nobody really cares if this is a PIU or a DDR machine, or that the song they picked happened to be on both PIU and DDR, or that the guy is Chinese and not Korean. Do you really think the general public cares? Come on, focus on the bigger picture here.

Damn J Dogg, you said everything I was going to say. I'm not one to sit there and nitpick every commercial out there. Finish Line was promoting a shoe, and I think they did it well. I liked the commercial a lot.

They shouldn't have even had to get permission to use a DDR machine. IMO Konami should have been paying Nike for (what would have been) their gracious use of a DDR machine.

Everyone knows about Nike. If you connect something to Nike it will sell. As much as I love DDR, I know that Nike is more popular than it. Therefore, it should have been the other way around.

Look, i got 2 answers from the people doing auditions.

Reason #1: Konami doesnt want the Nike name tied to them.

Reason #2: Licencing $$$$$ and Konami hates US DDR.

they probably picked winter because lots of people know that song anyways (the original classical version), its one of the more popular classical songs out there...

PIU has nearly a dozen tracks by banya based on classical songs, so to think that they chose it to be in the commercial to spite ddr's classical V is kind of lame...

and banya is tied to andamiro basically, so if they pretty much had to choose a banya song i figure, and thats the one i'd pick for that commercial honestly...

sure there are more ddr's in arcades now but konami isnt planning on releasing any more arcade DDR's so either PIU is going to take the place of many (which is another reason why konami prolly didnt want to be in that commercial, because the new DDR arcades versions are japanese mixes imported), or ddr extreme is going to be the dancing game version of "counterstrike" an old version of a game that still has lots of fans, E4.gif

God damn, it's a good thing they didn't put anything Star Trek related in the commercial too, or the nitpicking probably would have hit critical mass and the earth would be engulfed in a cataclysmic fireball.

1. It's just a silly shoe commercial.
2. If you simply must say "Pump it Up sux", at least make an intelligent argument. And no "It's like DDR" is not intelligent.

Now everyone having an episode over something so simple, take a deep breath and count to ten. We'll get through this.

Konami hates US DDR? Really. Why did they make 2 ps2 games and pads for it, as well as an xbox version with extra downloadable content? Why are they making 2 more US versions if they hate it? That's gotta be one of the dumbest things I've heard. Plus it's creating Konami paychecks; I don't think any company "hates" games that make them money.

I liked it....PIU or DDR doesn't matter. Its out there. Just cool to see it on TV for our own amusement.

Didn't make me want to buy shoes though...what a shame. =(

Hey you bunch of fucks maybe we should just hate every game in existence that came after the first game ever that that guy made in like 1502 that ran on that big ass computer that was some kind of poopyty space ship flying game that used a controller because EVERYONE THAT MADE ANYTHING AFTER THAT WAS RIPPING HIM OFF YEAAAH SPACE SHIP GAME FROM 1502 IS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE LET ME ARGUE IT WITH THE MOST VALID POINTS POSSIBLE

I HATE ALL GAMES INVOLVING TANKS AND AIRPLANES BECAUSE COMBAT CAME FIRST

Yeah dudes I can't believe that Andamiro would be so unoriginal and make a remix of WINTER (NOT V) by VIVALDI THE FUCKING COMPOSER FROM LIKE 5000 YEARS AGO IDIOTS AND NOT SOME IDIOT THAT STICKS DJ ON HIS NAME AND PASTES MIDI FILES, USES HORRIBLE SYNTHS, AND ADDS THE MOST GENERIC TECHNO BEAT IN THE WORLD WHAT A STAR

Of course many of you are so blindingly intelligent that you think that the slobs that sit around and watch TV all day are going to care at all whether or not they put a Japanese game or Korean game in a commercial for some shoes. This may surprise half of you, but not everyone in the world sits around jacking off to things with JAPANESE stamped on them like many of you.

Many of you should throw away your computers and just continue to let only MTV run your brains for you. If MTV says it's good it JUST HAS TO BE.

Thank you for warning me and not the legions of drones that posted retarded shit before me. Sense is blasting into my brains out of the computer screen as I type this and I have found new meaning, which is to love DDR no matter what because I'm too obsessed with Japanese people and a video game's release date to notice how flawed the game and it's horrible community is.
