DDR exists since almost 5 years now (it was at the E3 in 1999). Now let's get serious. When do you think DDR will die and why? I'm not talking about being too popular or thing like that, but about his life lenght. I would like to believe that DDR will be eternal but I don't think so. Why? Simply because video games are becoming more and more immersive, well designed etc. The exciting thing about DDR is that it was very innovative (gameplay). And you, what do you think about that?

My guess is about another 7 to 8 years, to tell the truth. I'm really not sure though. DDR is still picking up in the US. And I bet that after they've had the whole DDR eyetoy set-up for a couple years (which I assume is similar to Para Para Paradise (never played it)), they're going to make kareoke revolution compatible with DDR too.

6 years, came out in 1998.

I think we will see a new DDR, ala IIDX from japan, as they are taking a hiatus.

I dunno. DDR is just shy of dead in Japan. Despite how much speed it's picking up in the US, I don't think it'll last much longer. If Konami keeps putting out more US versions, it'll delay its demise for a couple years, but they need to put out some more arcade versions if they don't want DDR to belly up anytime soon.

Konami need to grasp the attention of more people with new ideas. not just new songs or modes. Because then only the people that already play DDR will find this fun. Perhaps......gloves and you have to move your body and arms also? I have no ideas.

If they make another mix it will most likely be the last one.But I doubt there will be another arcade mix anyway not that I hope extreme is the last mix but I doubt we'll be getting new stuff.

i think theres going to be the total of 11 ddr remixes. look what they did with beatmania or guitar freak. or Final Fantasy...

my point is that almost every game has at least 11 games of the same title with new stories in them...

I'm guessing that DDR will outlive the interest of most of the people currently playing.

It's still picking up to the kids in the US but I believe in 2 years (1 more mix) it will be over. Now if only Konami will frick introduce IIDX to the US.

I dunno, i just hope that they come out wit like 2 more mixes, and even though it is just shy of dead in Japan, still give it a chance rather than leaving us out to dry.

I think they'd do something really special for a 10th mix (whenever that happens) and then it'd be done.

Whoever said that they need to use different songs was right. riiight.gif
