I am requesting the source code for the step chart engine. My plan is to utilize it in a step analysis program which will, in conjunction with a score sheet, provide technical assistance to ddr players. Of course, all due credit will be placed to the writer(s) of the script.

I would talk to sherl0k, but I know him personally, and I wouldn't want it to seem like a favor.

Who would I need to discuss this matter with? I believe ddronline was gracious enough to release the source, but I could be wrong in this matter.

Thanks in advance for your time.

While you certainly have good intentions with providing technical assistance to ddr players, I believe protecting the source code is more important to this site. What sort of technical assistance are you talking about anyway? You would probably be able to just use the DWI files available on the net.

Indeed, the DWI files would be included. The step chart script would be very helpful in the graphical representation of challenging aspects of songs, as well as detailing gameplay in general (IE, demonstrating what a "gallop" is, a "pivot" is, etc). The intention is to analyze a person's scores on all songs submitted, and from these scores, extract hard values which would show a player's particular skills (ability to hit chaos, pivots, gallops, stream, extreme tempo, endurance), and provide suggestions for songs / general skills to work on.

I have little knowledge of php's on-the-fly image generation capabilities, and thus am having a hard time finding a place to start on my own step chart script. Simply, I've never had to work with it before in any language.

I realize that the script is very important, and probably very much in your best interest to keep it to within DDRFreak. However, I do appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Adamn, find me on AIM and I can work something out with you. I have a script of my own, but I can't give it out.

Just an update, in case anybody cared.

I've completed my own stepchart script now. Requires PHP4. Disassembles DWI files down to 192 units per measure, support of up to 192 notes. Full freeze arrow support. "Speed Mod" options. "Little" option. "Left" option. "Right" option. "Mirror" option. Customizable data depicted on chart. All by myself, and www.php.net. Yarr.
