Yes i edit this... anyway, if i order fliptop... do i need to order a buttom cover for the ps2 too?
note that i already have the swap discs.

Alright, I need some help.
I purchased a universal PS2 on ebay recently, and it works fine for US and Japanese PS2 games. It only plays PS1 games if I hold the reset button until the blue eject light lights up; but even then, it only plays American PS1 games. I'm trying to find out what modchip they used, or if it was a modchip. The seller doesn't know much about it, so I'm wondering if there is any way I can take apart my PS2 to find out what modchip was used. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

Holding down the button for a few seconds puts it into PS1 mode. I don't know why, but that's the way modchips work.
PS2 modchips don't handle PS1 games correctly, so only domestic PS1 games will work. |

Apparently it's a list of titles that won't boot properly when using the Swap-Magic boot disk. It looks to me that you have to use this CD-Loader program in conjunction with the Swap-Magic in order to get the games to load.
Can anyone confirm this?

he probably mad when i told him that i ordered from some place else when i went bak to his site and found out it was sold out.
then i emailed him bak saying that the item was sold out.
next thing i knew he emailed me saying he was solding that item for me.
i didnt kno he was holding that last item for me.
oh well....
anyone know if i can use the swap disc cd to play import games or what/.

umm kinda desperat here...just last night my ps2 was working fine...now it dont work at all... i have full blue clear fliptop...i put in regular game adnit dont read it....y?...i look in and i see the laser beam not move at all...i know this is the problem...what do i do????

Most likely that won't happen. First of all, he was using a push-button, you're talking about the fliptop, which is different. The fliptop has been mastered in construction, unlike the pushbutton, which is still kind of new. And I've had my push-button for longer than he has, and mine's been working fine. |

I have a Fliptop, non push button, and it still works.

I read up around page 7 and saw some solutions to the problems we're all having with the flip-top mod. My question is: Did anyone think of a non-ghetto solution?
I ordered my flip-top from PS2cover.com (transparent blue, requires you to press a button to open it) and have two problems: The first being the general deal where the DVD drive sounds like an airy garbage disposal and can't read any disks and the second being the two memory card slot doors get stuck halfway in. The second problem is not a big deal as I can still insert cards, but I tend to despise how ghetto it looks.
Is there a verdict on any way to fix the disk reading problems without having to leave the lid open for the rest of my life or without having to put my fricking biology book on top of the PS2? I tried removing the lid, making some unsuccessful memory card door adjustments, and then putting it back on but screwing it extra tight and this time around, the DVD drive wouldn't even open, so I had to take it back off.
If there's no non-ghetto way to solve either of these problems, I'm thinking about asking PS2cover.com for a refund. I'm very disappointed... I payed (an upwards of 40 bucks for this piece of plastic) to get a professionally designed flip-top mod that would work the way they promised it would. I'll try rescrewing it on a little later - I must have messed something up if the tray wouldn't even open. |

i seem only could found v1-6 but not for v7 and higher.
i found one 7v but it only can play psone imports.
so im looking for one that plays import .

Why do you want the worse possible modchip? I don't even think it can play original imports and you still have to solder so you might as well get a real chip.
