Anyone have any idea where to put the BG Animations and how they should be organized so that each song on StepMania will load the corresponding bg animations? I need help badly, since I have all the songs AVI's in each folder of the songs name. But where do I put them? I tried putting them in the Bg Animations folder. Than I set the Background Settings to Animations and Random Background movies at once was 20(It lagged so bad and was playing the wrong movies in a small box in the middle). Is there even a way to load the correct bg videos for each song without having every song cycle EVERY single bg animation? I thought that putting the AVI's in a folder named for example "bag" would do it but it just cycled through all the AVI's in the other song folders such as "Be Lovin" and "Tsugaru" .
Any help on how to make bg videos work correctly for each song would be greatly appreciated. I have all the AVI's but I need help on how to organize them, where to put them, and what settings to change on StepMania so it reads them correctly.
Thx!! |

The .sm files for each song have to be scripted to use the movies. Go to the site linked in my sig; you can get the .sm files in a zipfile from my section or pick individual ones from S2U's section. _________________

1. Download the song from DDRUK.
2. Download the scripted .sm file from ollec's site.
3. Download the required movies.
4. Put both .sm and movies in song directory from DDRUK.
5. Play. _________________

When you said song directory, would that be putting all the movies and .sm file for the song in a Folder with the song name on it IN StepMania CVS/Songs/DDR Extreme (My song name folder)/
and than for example a song such as 321 Stars is in there, should I place all the movies and .sm files in there? Sorry, I'm a little slow as you see and need a bit of step to step .
I don't think you mean just put the .sm files and movies all over the place in my DDR song folder, and rather in the corrseponding song folder correct? Thanks for dealing with my slowness . |

Okay, using 321 Stars as an example, open up Windows Explorer and browse to this directory:
C:\Program Files\StepMania\Songs\DDR Extreme\321 Stars
In this directory you should see these files (in some form or another):
321 Stars.sm
321 Stars.png
321 Stars-bg.png
321 Stars.mp3
*all movies required by 321 Stars* _________________

I got all the things you said in there but no movies play. What setting should the bganimations be set to? Visualizations, Animations, or Random Movies? |

Animations. Also make sure you've got DivX 5.1.1 installed on your computer; that's what the movies are encoded in. _________________

No, you don't know what you're doing. The files are just fine. When you can accurately describe exactly what problems you're running into, maybe then someone can help you. _________________

Not to dredge up an old topic, but my question seemed valid. Anyways.
I've got BreakDown!, and when I try to play I start out with the standard PNG background of that girl. Then, I get a black screen for the whole song until the end.
My .sm file:
Code: | #TITLE:BREAK DOWN!;
#SUBTITLE:;
#ARTIST:Be For U;
#TITLETRANSLIT:BREAK DOWN!;
#SUBTITLETRANSLIT:;
#ARTISTTRANSLIT:;
#CREDIT:;
#BANNER:BREAK DOWN!.png;
#BACKGROUND:BREAK DOWN!-bg.png;
#LYRICSPATH:;
#MUSIC:BREAK DOWN!.mp3;
#CDTITLE:.\CDTITLES\DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION MAX 2.PNG;
#MUSICLENGTH:106.671;
#OFFSET:-0.530;
#SAMPLESTART:48.970;
#SAMPLELENGTH:15.000;
#SELECTABLE:YES;
#BPMS:0.000=190.000;

315.00=heart2.avi=1.00=0=1=1;

And in my BreakDown! folder I have these .avis: car1.avi, car2.avi, heart1.avi, heart2.avi, piston1.avi, puppet1.avi, puppet2.avi, and star2.avi.
I'm at a loss as to why this doesn't work, as I've got a different stepfile that also uses an .avi movie file in the same fashion both in the folder and the .sm file.
I'm stumped.
[Edit]OK, got it working. I had BreakDown in there previously without the background movies, so apparently SM made a cache of that, and was using it everytime I tried to play the new one. Anyways, I got it working by moving BreakDown into another folder. Now it works, yay! BreakDown! |
