well since Legend of max standard is a 9 footer, and some people do consider it a hard 9 footer, would it be considered a cata, even though its standard? _________________

Yes, any nine footer is a catastrophic. This applies to Max.(period), too. _________________

hmm and what is it on begginer? Never thought about that. And not to start one of those irritating debates about what konami SHOULD have rated a song....
but I kinda like the foot ratings are reversed for MaxX and tlom on standard. But I can accept what they are. _________________

IMO, LoM standard is a cata, although the jumps are much easier than compard to MaxX jumps (which i think should be a cata) but it seems to have just a constant run thru out the lenth of the song, plus the jumps at the end as well.
But Max.(Period) on light is like 6 feet, there are hardly any steps or difficult patterns (even on the 600 BPM part) to call it *ANYTHING* higher than at most a 7. _________________

Since forever. Catastrophic is applied to anything 9 feet and above. _________________

I think he was saying that anything 9 and up is a cata is because 10 and flashing 10's don't have a offical name, although ppl did give them a name (i'm not sure on what it is though) _________________

A long time ago, people on DDRFreak or some message board decided that 10 footers needed a name because all of the other foot ratings had names. This conversation inevitably ended up being about pies because it was on the internet, a pie-favorable place.
Basically, it's arbitrary that it ended up being pie. Maybe in Extreme US they might give 10 footers an official name and bring back all of the originals? That would be awesome. _________________

Besides, everybody always wants more pie, i.e. beating more ten-footers. _________________

That's kinda like saying that you could classify a Perfect as a Great. 10's are Pies. |
more like classifying a Marvelous as a Perfect rather than a Perfect as a Great if you ask me. and to me, 10s are hell, but thats probably because i can't pass very many 9s. besides, since the first 9 step song was made, they were classified as catas, and that's not about to change

That's the first that I ever heard of Pies. Not sure if it's the origin, though. _________________
