ok, i really do not see how things like reality and blur (speedy mix) are physically possible to do. i cant imagine how one could move fingers so fast. i mean i can read the arrows (sorta) but, yea you get the point. i can get past the jumps on reality but after that i get flooded and loose, as for blur...well i knda see that song as a joke. i know theres videos of archowl doing these but i have slow dial up (cabel not avalible were i live although i live like 3 miniutes from town) and i really dont have the patients to wait literally over 10 hours to see him beat reality. so if anyone has tips or anything that would help that would b great....just dont flame me and say stuff like "LOL YOU STUPID NOOB YOU CANT EVEN BEAT REALITY".

Reality = never been passed. You're perfectly normal, hell, reach, the master, can't even get to it, the time the electronic pulse gets to the computer, you would have missed it. As in, 32nd notes at 400 BPM is 8 a second...at 60 BPM meaning itd be 64 a second. Not possible. Tips? Don't lift you fingers as far up as possible, have it just barely off the contact point of the sensor.

and you're not a n00b

he is talking about reach's reality E1.gif

but, its weird how i move mine fast, as the above poster said, dont lift up too high.. i can trigger a muscle thing and it makes my index fingers move horribly fast...its just finding out how to do it is the problem.... i dont think its really good to do that because my veins bulge after playing a fast song

edit- I also find it LOADS easier to go fast on laptop keyboards

although archy doesnt do this, i auctually can go way faster with more than 2 fingers for non repeating patterns. just play fast songs alot and play songs like PSMO and LOM on something around 1.2x to 1.4x rates and eventually move up to around 2x. it takes a while to get. keep praticing...

Um, no. Keyboard is where the fun begins. disturb.gif

And for the record, the true answer to the thread title's question: masturbation.

Practise makes perfect...

Just play more hard and fast stuff and you'll get used to it.

Anything that doesn't go over 20 taps a second is pretty much possible.

Well it's all about your wrist muscles or finger muscles or whatever getting stronger. It doesn't just happen overnight.

As for keyboard vs pad.. whatever. I think that DDR on the pad is boring. PIU and ITG is a different story, but meh. I think IIDX or Pop'n can also be more fun once you actually get up to the point where you can pass all the songs except for a few, and you can still improve a lot from there.

give me the music and let me borrow a tuba and I'll fail miserably.

I used to think that Sync was crazy (and I still do) but Just recently I've realized that I've gotten alot better. Now I aint real great (like if I pass maxX I'm happy) but with practice you can do anything. I've never seen blur so I don't really know but I heard it was sweet.

Just like everyone said: Practice.

Play a lot of 9-10 footers to begin with. Find out what finger-stance is good for you (personally, I use two hands: index fingers for most of everything, but I throw a middle finger in there for really complex crossover/spin patterns (i.e.: Cynic) and confusing freeze patterns (c.o.n.n.e.c.t.e.d by Ayumi Hamasaki is a good example)). Also, learn to read the C400 speed mod, but always switch back over to regular speed mods (I made the mistake of whoring C400 and now I really suck at 1-1.5x).

Also, go into your option and do two things: turn off the danger screen and make sure that the default fail type is End Of Song. This way, the danger movie isn't taunting you and having fail end of song on will let you play through really hard stuff to learn the patterns.

One really good thing to do is to use the music speed mod on confusing songs. Turn the music speed down to learn clustered sequences and turn it up to build endurance in your fingers.

But, mostly: practice. When I first started, I couldn't even pass Purple Haze. Now, I'm passing things like Karma (the really hard one), the 10-foot versions of A, and Complicated with consistent scores. That's all it is...practice.

well recently for fun i jack the rate up to 1.5 and play any song i think i could pass. i did ps with a B and psm with a C, maby i should go up to 2x...bc after getting roughly 3/4 through reality i kinta wanna finish that hellish song and prolly i should practice reading better so i can pass speed over beethoven. btw i use ma pointer and middle finger on both hands and i use cvbn, after i read on one of these threds about cvbn i never used arrow keys since E4.gif
