Alright, I searched the forum out and couldn't find any of my questions answered, or even asked SO.

I passed my first 10 yesterday, sukura. (edit: sakura) I want to know if this is a legit 10 or if its one of those, pft oh that song.

also I'm having a really hard time with So Deep on heavy, its a 9 but I wanted to know if this song is worth a 10.

Questions are, as you know, made because occassionaly the foot ratings are just a little off. Like Cutie Chaser (morning mix) on heavy being anything over a 2.

Answers please! <3

First off, friendly reminder - it's spelled "Sakura", not "Sukura". That just looks... odd...

Anyway, the question of Sakura being a 10 really depends on the person. There are people who will go "Psh, that song isn't a 10", and there are people who will say it's deserving of its 10 foot ranking. It's the same thing with So Deep, I think.

Well, it is a "legit" 10 simply because there are 10 of those crazy little feet there when you choose it. However, it is pretty much one of those, "Pfft, Sakura? That's not a 10," songs. I have seen many people here post to that effect, and I would actually consider Cartoon Heroes and LoM on Standard to both be harder (both 9s). I generally call it a 9.
So Deep is a bizotch, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's a 10. Learn to love gallops.
At any rate, congrats on your first 10. Sakura is nothing to scoff at, even if it's not quite as hard as Max300 or Paranoia Survivor. And, it's a great song to show off with...

Edit: The post above mine was posted as I was writing mine, just as an interesting note...

Sakura is widely regarded as the easiest 10. The only thing close would be using a pretty high speed mod on bag. I have more problems with Waka Laka and that's an 8, so yes some of the ratings aren't exactly consistent. Unless you going around claiming you can do Max. and Paranoia Survivor Max just because you passed Sakura I doubt anyone is going to look down on you though.

I think So Deep is a harder than a good amount of 9s, but not worthy of a 10. For the most part the 10s are really fast stamina killers. Songs like MaxX Unlimited and Max 300 are a huge step up even from the 9s. The obvious exception is bag, which is a 10 for other pretty obvious reasons. So Deep isn't that fast or nearly as draining as 300 bpm streams, it's just a lot of chaos. If you have a home version with it I'd reccomend going into training mode and using Assist 6 to tick on the steps. For the most part the song is all gallops with some 16ths thrown in I think. Putting a 1.5x or 2x mod will probably help a lot also.

I think the reason why Sakura gets a 10 and So Deep and Cart Heroes get a nine is the speed factor. Sakura isnt that hard, but because it has such bizarre bpm changes and because it goes to 320 bpm, that makes it a ten. The other nines 140, 180, 190, 150, etc. I think thats the difference. If So Deep was the exact same, except that the arrow speed was at 400C, that yes it would earn at ten in Konami's eyes.

Yes, So Deep (PSM) should be a 9. Yes, Sakura should be a 10.

I have more trouble with Sakura than Max 300, actually. I occasionally fail Sakura still, and I can now pass MaxX Unlimited no bar!

I think the reason Cartoon Heroes and So Deep are 9's and not 10's is simply because they're liscensed. All the current 10's are KO's which is where I developed my theory from.

Heh, kind of ironic, considering the only song I can think of that I'm amazed isn't a 10 in Konami's eyes is Drop Out.. especially considering it was the first song to have a doubled BPM, which has become a standard thing for 10 footers. (I don't care what anyone says, Max 300 & Sakura = 150bpm, PS = 135bpm, etc.) BTW, anyone else annoyed that we don't get a .75x (or whatever it'd be) speed mod to play them, from their proper bpm, at 1.5x?

Sakura is a 10 because of the 2 slowdowns, the REAL killer one in the middle and the not so harsh one at the end, as well some people aren't very good at reading 300+ BPM. Not to mention anyone who is just trying Sakura WILL miss that one note, and has anyone looked at how many notes you need to miss to fail sakura at the slowdown? only 4-5 in a row, with full bar, due to the much smaller ammount of notes compared to max300.

I passed Max300 far before I could get past Sakura, but now I find Max300 easier, just because I can maul that slowdown now E10.gif.

No Deep isn't a 10, not a chance E10.gif I've never failed that song, ever, even when I just started playing 9 foots. I rarely get a good grade on it, but it definately isn't overly challenging when it comes to acually passing it, just practice gallops and quick triplets.

Cartoon Heroes should be a ten, on 1x speed it is just dumb compared to the other 9s, it is the in between when it comes to the other 9s and the 10s, Stamina draining with a weird hard to get down note pattern and reading issues.

If the machine says Sakura is a 10-footer, then it's a 10. If the machine says So Deep is a 9, then it's a 9.
