Just wondering, where did you buy your JPS2 from? And how much did it cost you (if you don't mind)? I've been wanting to get one for a while and was wondering where the cheapest and most realiable option would be. Thanks.

Ebay. No joke

Got Mr.Mosquito, 2 dating Sims, and FFX with a 8MB mem card, controller, PS2, DVD remote thingy and stand ALL for the low low price of only 4 easy paments of $99.99

xD

But WAIT! There's more!

Because I ordered with credit card they deducted 1 payment! Making the new low low LOOOOW price of only 3 easy paments... of $99.99

xD

It came out to 300 bucks. Not bad I'd say =P. Look around though if you don't trust Ebay =P

I bought my Midnight Black JPS2 (slightly different than the US PS2 color) from Japanvideogames.com for $249 plus shipping. That was the lowest price I could find and I looked at quite a few sites (didn't want to buy a used one on Ebay)

I bought an american model and had it modded, all for $249. So, not only does it play all games, including PAL versions, but it also plays all DVDs. I wouldn't buy a japanese version, they cost just as much as newly modded systems which have double the functionality in terms of available titles. Although if it seems wiser to buy a model that is exclusive to one region as the same price as one which has no barriers then I say why not. The world needs all types of people, right? laugh.gif Wait, that's not a very nice thing to say. E2.gif But is it true? E8.gif

how do you play pal games? i thought that they didnt work in u.s. systems because of tv differences. if i can play pal games in my ps2, i'll be extremely happy.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions so far. I don't plan on modding my US PS2 and would rather have the official JPS2; it'll look so nice next to my JPS1 and import games ^^

A friend of mine is living in Japan as well, so I may end up asking him what kinds of deals he can find as well. But with shipping and whatnot, I figured either way I'm not going to find it very cheap.

Well, you can patch your games directly from NTSC to PAL using a converter tool. This is a solution for all modded systems. Or, you can get a mod which also disables a certain hardware point on the mainboard. I'd suggest searching for the tool instead. The chips with PAL mods seem to be different between each chip.

Wow. This went from pads' region blocking (none) to JPS2's and ebay.

I don't like this thread.

Faulty logic there. How can she know not to read the name without having read it first?

Anyway, the question was asked, an answer was given, and a fool warned. I think we're done here.
