I'm talking arrow window timing. You know, the little judgement meter that stepmania allows you to change that determines how close to the actual correct spot you're able to press the keys.

I had my judgement at 4 for quite a long period of time until I realized how easy it was. I was able to AAA songs like So Deep, Afronova, etc. but then I decided to sharpen my skills and see how much harder it was to change it to 6. And I haven't got a single AAA, and it's even harder to get AA's on some songs.

What I'm wondering is what judgement you prefer, and how well you've done. And if you've got AAA's on stuff, is it really anything to be proud of if you got it with an easy setting?

Anyway this is my first forum post here on DDR freak, hope it wasn't a waste your precious time. frown.gif

I play on arcade difficulty, which is why I don't have a single AAA. Plus my PA sucks on a pad anyway, so I guess that translates to the keyboard (though my PA is actually BETTER on a pad, for some reason. On a song where I can get under 40 on a pad, sometimes I'll end up with over 100 on the keyboard)

Most people use four, but don't limit themselves to the official sets of stepfiles. There are a lot of things out there that are a *lot* harder than So Deep/Afronova/the Maxes, etc. You should check out the "get your .dwi/.SM files here" thread for some links to original stepfiles.

Yeah, in general when im playing on they keyboard (usually harder stuff), I play on 4, and when im on a pad (With SM) Ill put it on 5 or 6 which is closer to arcade timing.

I usually leave it on 4. 4 is the default so I assume its the arcade difficulty, or at least the intended difficulty. I AAA alot of songs, including max 300 and LOM.

WATCH OUT GUYS HE'S AAA'ING...

OFFICIAL SONGS!!

There's a reason "Keyboard only" files were made, genius. Of course it's going to be easy when you're playing PAD difficulty files on the keyboard.

You need to change the ini to get arcade timing...

Judge 5 is harder than arcade timing. Judge 6 is WAYYYYYYYYY beyond arcade timing...not perfect wise, but the good/boo/miss windows are really tight, and its insanely easy to miss.

But yea, I play on 4 when doing keyboard files. I can AAA stuff like legend of max on judge 6 though.
