I have a brother who is into DDR too, and we both recently bought two ignition pads. (One for me, and one for him.) Anyway, I can easily do 8 foot songs, where my brother has a lot of trouble doing 6 foot songs. After playing B4U about 1,000 times, he finally gets a B on it, and says: "Ooo! I can do B4U on Standard now! You know what? I think I am ready for Heavy mode!" So he goes and tried Abyss on Heavy, and fails quickly, and says "Wow, thats a hard song, but I can almost do it!!" AHH!! I feel like I want to punch him sometimes!!! And right now, as we speak, he is trying A on Heavy, and fails, even before the fast part starts. And tried it about 100 times already!

...And, he says he can do any 8 foot song now, becuase he got a D on CowGirl. lol

Sorry about the rant, but I felt like I had to tell someone.

Gah, it's annoying when people think they are so much better then they are. No offence anyone, you need to be confident to pass difficult songs, but there's a difference between believing you can do a new song if you work really hard, and believing you're a dance-champ after A'ing a standard song. This guy I saw at a tourney annoyed me a lot. It was a team-tourney where 2 people play together to get as much points as possible, and the team with the most points win. Anyways, this guy had a female teammate. He kept asking her like "are you sure you're ready for a song this hard" and "just focus on not failing, I'll get the points" before each song. The great part was that she beat him on EVERY SONG, both in grade and score! That guy still annoys me... He really has no beat or coordination, and yet he's getting a cobalt flux... *ish jealous*

i know what you mean...my friend thinks he is better than me, and acctually tommorow we are gonna play at the arcade to resolve this but anyways, he thinks he is better than me at all songs, and when he was at my house i AAA breakdown. Then at school the next day he says "man, i almost AAA breakdown!", then i said cool so you finally got a AA and then he says " ....well...., I almost AA it!!!" that just pisses me off!

and when he was at my house he could barely pass a standard song on my ignition pad, and he used the excuse that his modded 20$ pad was the reason....he said that he can beat heavy songs with ease on his own pad...i mean i know that switching soft pads can be a small disadvantage sometimes, but when you say that you like your own soft pad better than the acctuall arcade, you are just bullshitting

Dude, he's your brother, what's the deal with critizing the way he learns to play? It's his choice to play on heavy, not yours. Evidently he's proud of his accomplishments, so what. It doesn't look like he thinks he can play heavy mode. Just because he tries doesn't make him a n00b. We all had to learn somewhere, remember that.

I know that I always hate it when people are confident in their abilities and try to do better.

It just annoys me so much when people play a game their own way and it isn't exactly how I play it. Those bastards.

Sometimes people have to face the facts. "I can almost pass it" isn't "I really think I can if I put more practice into it". Confidence = good. Lying to yourself = bad.

Once in awhile I will get these guys at my arcade that are stuck up, but it doesn't bother me. They are only standard and light and make a big deal with stuck up remarks that they got a C or D on it. Of course I come up after them and do a heavy song and A or AA it and just select the next song not worrying about any stuck up remarks or anything about thinking I am the best. riiight.gif
I am one of the quiet ones that does heavy songs finishes it takes a breather and water gulp than gets to the next song. I don't really care if I attract crowds or show-off although looking behind me and seeing someone with their jaws dropped is pretty humerous to me E4.gif , or a old person staring at me like I'm a mad man. I especially hate the little kids that get on and are acting like they are the best after they finish cartoon heroes on beginner goog.gif . Once in awhile I see people actually good that do heavy but the problem here is they are even more stuck up than the other light and standard people that think they are the best. I guess it's just every person is different. Most of the people at my arcade seem to be too proud of themselves with little accomplishments. disgust.gif

And all the while I'm thinking this, I'm just sitting on a bench watching them smiling and not peeping a word until I go up to dance riiight.gif .

Its not that I don't want him to learn, or to try, its just that it makes me very angry when people think they can do such difficult songs, and they can't yet. My point is, that there are some people that try hard difficulties without trying the easy ones first. My brother for example, can barely pass 6 foot songs, and constantly tries to pass 8 foot songs, and fails everytime. I don't think hes trying to get god, I think hes trying to impress other people.

why do you have a problem with it? if they want to learn by challenging themself, then let them. tha'ts the way i learn as well. and think of it this way: the faster THEY fail, the faster YOUR turn comes along.

aLL... RIGHT... Hold on while i get this burger eaten...

ahh... now back to what i wanted to say.

Ahh... i see you all have valid points. You all get somewhat aggrevated by people going way over their heads. But you really should understand that its not their fault right? Imean... first of all, i beleive we are all victims to this pigheaded way of thinking but if that was my only argument, it would be dubbed weak.

Now. In this present situation, the child has successfully surpassed a song that he has been working on for a while and so he truly feels the strenght to challenge a much more skill-requiring song. There are two outcomes here. (1) The individual beats the song by the skin or his teeth and is filled with unparrallel happiness. How did he beat the song? Probably his powerful will or he attained THEFLY (which is something i will not speak of now). This outcome is very rare. As rare as teenagers who date each other and end up marrying when they are old enough. (but we wont get into that now)
(2) The individual looses and either conmmenses to attempt to defeat the song or he reestablishes his skill level and resumes his training course.

But even in the event of the second outcome, it is unfair to dislike someone because of his will to suceed at something he loves. Besides... a few mixes ago and his skills would be average (previous DDR games had less demonic steps).

All that should be noted is that you dont have to hate these people but admire their determination and give them encouragement. They need it. Remember... we are the DDR Freak Members.

PS: With all this writing i feel like a moderator

Holy Crap, Neemo! I think you're right!

Yeah these rants are pretty stupid when they get to our heads. When it comes down to it, it's just people with the ambition to do better. So what?

I'm one of those irritating people that plays two songs that I know I can beat and then moves on to a harder song that I can't which usually results in me failing.

My time, my money, my failure. I still think one of the best ways to get good at a song is playing it hard 'til you actually get acclamated to it. Heck, that's how I passed my first Heavy songs. Even though I failed them, I kept playing them and eventually I learned to read the arrows. I realize it's brute force, but hey, playing standard songs over and over again didn't help much.

Usually if I can pass the song on Standard with flying colors, I try for the heavy mode.

Sometimes the song, depending which one I play is easy, moderate, or difficult for me to play.
