I've been playing DDR for 11 months now, and I weigh the same as I did when I started. This isn't to say that DDR doesn't work, because if I never started playing I'd probably have gained a lot of weight.

My diet is probably at fault. I'm 5'10" and still range between 205-210 on average. Stupid junk food and pop. E2.gif

So, who else is in the same boat as me?

I agree. When I started (about three weeks ago tomorrow) I weighed about 250, now however I weigh 245. Diet is a very important part of the process. Cut out the junk food and most of the pop and I think youll see results. If you can I would reccomend replacing pop with gatorade and then perhaps just trying to go to water.

I started in like late March and I just play for fun considering I'm already skinny as it is. I am becoming even more skinnier. Maybe it's the song difficulties ur playing? Are you into catas or 10 footers or 7-8 or lower? Also I play for a long time about 4 hours a time than come back really late at night and play another 2 hours or so. I'm definately starting to fit into my shorts that I wore a long time ago like 2 years ago lol. I usually can tell if I'm working hardcore if I'm drenching in sweat. You might also want to play to the point until you sweat like a pig. Works for me.

P.S.
Have a water bottle at your side instead of a coke can it will be much refreshing and rejuvenate your body much better. Like when you go to the arcade bring a water bottle and palce it beside the machine. I actually am starting to hate soda now after so much water laugh.gif .

You really did just answer your own question. You have to change your diet. You'd be amazed what might happen if you cut out the soda, and keep playing DDR. Seriously, now is a great time to stop drinking soda. With atkins being the rage and all, more and more splenda-sweetened drinks are making there way out on the market-- Diet Rite & Diet Hansens to name a couple. Honestly, Diet Hansens Root Beer has no taste difference to me than the real stuff. But fine... don't like the diet drinks? Try iced tea, light lemonade (careful, some lemonades have just as many calories as soda), crystal light or... plain ol water. If plain ol' water doesn't do it for you, add a piece of fruit like a lemon, lime or orange-- it goes a long way. I give these suggestions all from my own experience of quitting soda a year and a half ago.

Junk food is a little harder to make changes in, but it's not hard to start taking steps towards improvement. Don't keep potato chips anywhere in your house. Keep pretzels around instead. If you're the type that goes to eat fast-food once in a while because that's just the way your lifestyle is, never, ever ever utter the words "super size it" or "make it big" or whatever. The default portions will fill you up just fine.

Honestly, just make these little changes and I guarantee you'll start seeing improvement (assuming you keep up with the DDR). You don't have to turn your life upside down and start counting carbs and calories and all that crap, just make better choices. But if you are going to do it, start *now*. Do not say "oohhh i'll start tomorrow" or "ohhh after my birthday" or whatever. Start right now, or you'll continue to find excuses and never do it. I'm trying to speak from personal experience here, I procrastinated about 3 years too long in starting eating lifestyle adjustments. Good luck.

I can do all the catas and barely finish Max300, so I'm definitely doing songs that will get and keep my heart rate up. As for water, I've been using water while playing DDR for quite some time now. In fact, I sweat so much I usually buy a gallon of bottled water before heading to the arcade. Trust me, it's almost always completely gone by the time I'm done.

Thanks for the diet tips though, guys. Hopefully other people like me are lurking this thread and taking notes. E1.gif

I have been playing for 3 years and lost less than 5 pounds. I heard all this talk about how you can lose weight just from DDR but I guess it's not true. I started drinking diet soda years ago which I know is better that drinking regular soda but I have a horrible diet. I know DDR has stopped me from gaining weight but I know I have to cut back on the junk food so I can lose weight.

Argh. I gotta get some will power.

Oh, it works alright. I lost 3 pounds in one night once o0 But hey, I eat like a pig, and now I don't gain weight anymore, what with my constant DDRing keeps it even.

Either that or my metabolism is like that of a hyperactive 2-year-old's or something. My metabolism's been known for being.... like, high...

Gatorade works well too. There is a water fountain and a gatorade machine at my arcade, so i buy a gatorade and when that runs out i fill it up with water. Works well.

I havent lost any weight while I have been playing DDR, only because I am already really thin and stuff. The only effect it has had on me is that I have gotten a little more toned.

i play ddr practically every single day. i play heavy, i play nonstop, i play really freakin hard songs, i sweat like crazy and im always completely worn out when im done playing. then i bike back home, which is 100% uphill on the way back, so im dead tired by the time i get home. i don't eat any fast food or red meat ever, i never eat candy, all i eat is good healthy food, lots of fruit and vegetables. have i lost weight? nope. not a bit. in fact, i seem to be putting more on. i am SO frustrated. this sucks.
