Its when you play a song on Shuffle and Sudden. Some people argue that it should be Shuffle Sudden and Flat, but the people who invented the term agree its only shuffle and sudden.
It comes from 3rd mix days when Maniac mode was called "SSR" So in essense playing something on shuffle sudden SSR was SSSSR, or S4R. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

if i remember correctly, S4R also does imply Flat. when you play SSR mode in 3rd Mix, the steps are on Flat, like they were in 1st and 2nd Mix. if you play Remix Mode on 3rd Mix, then Heavy/Maniac/SSR steps aren't on Flat, but on SSR mode, they're on Flat. hence......
S4R
SSR = 3rd Mix Heavy mode on Flat
S = Sudden
S = Shuffle
put 'em together, and you get S4R. that's what i was raised on _________________

Wow, S4R... been a while since I heard anyone even mention the term! XD I remember back when you used to be a DDR god if you could pass Drop Out S4R without using the bar.
On a side note, DJ Drew- Remix Mode on 3rd Mix? I don't remember that one. Then again, I didn't play 3rd Mix a whole lot. |

i think they had it on 3rd Mix Arcade machines, i know they had it on the PS game 3rd Mix, but basically, Remix Mode was a mode where you could play all music on it, including the hidden tracks, on any difficulty, as opposed on only being able to play Basic and Trick on normal mode, and only SSR on SSR mode. it was the mode i always played on when i played 3rd Mix at home
if i remember correctly, on regular game mode, you could only play one certain AMD remixed song (Gradiusic Cyber, Gentle Stress, Jam Jam Reggae, or Luv to Me) depending on the character you picked (Rage, Boldo, Astro, or Konsento). in Remix mode, you could play all 4 of 'em no matter who you picked. _________________

Flat was not "flat". It was the default arrow skin on that mix. The only mods added where shuffle and sudden. By this logic then, it is impossible to play PSM:O on s4r, because its on challenge mode, not heavy, the exact same as SSR. However, when JSB passed PSMO 1.5 S4R nobody attacked the validity of the semantics there, because it is pointless. The fact is the term s4r started in socal, and the people who first coined the term used it to refer to adding Shuffle and Sudden to a song, and that's what the definition means now. _________________
