Even though everyone says the CFs are the best, I'm still a little worried about the fact that the pads are flush. Are there any good metal pads I can buy that have the arrows indented a little without resorting to building my own? |

i don't think you'll ever find a metal pad with indented arrows. they're either flush or bend upwards. most cheap ones bend up wards. only BNS, RO, and CF are flush i think |

about the plywood mod.....what do i hafta with the plywood? do i permently stick it too the pad? or do i jus place it under the pad? would i use a different wood with blocks of wood keeping the pad in place? i jus need some detailed. my ddr place is on very cushy carpet. my pad squeeks only in my house. when in other's houses with carpet they don't squeek mainly cuz in my opinion the carpet isn't as cushy. |

I played on a Cobalt today, and i HATED it. Everything is at the same levle, so selecting songs is a pain. The pad feels smaller then the arcade, so i accidentally stepped off the side of the arrow and hurt my foot. I also hate the fact that they are too responsive, makes the game less interesting (I a'd Synchronized love without a bar. WTF?). _________________

uhhh.....wow......i'll hafta save this post...........the only bad comment on the CF........hmm.....ur reasons aren't so good though. making it easier is what's good about the CF. why would u want a pad that doesn't respond as well? and u can get used to the flatness. |

The pad feels smaller because of everything being flush. Standing in the center plate to select songs is hard on this thing. This makes it easier then the Konami ASC because of it being Too responsive, making the game un-fun. I bearly have to move on this pad compaired to others. Its horrable. _________________

well if the pad was a lot more responsive than the arcade ones i guess it would be bad for u. u would get used to the responsiveness and then if u went to an arcade for DDR u would do badly. but the CF isn't that much more responsive than the arcade ones..... |

Too responsive? So a pad without ghost steps is just too good for DDR?
Anywho, phoguy, if you want some reviews of this pad, go to their website, www.cobaltflux.com. You'll get enough reviews there that will convince you to get it. The price for a new one is $300, which is expensive. Also, a tip for stickies is to READ THE FIRST POST! This post will tell you more about this pad. So yes, I definitely think you should get it, I've had my two version 1's for about 9 months, never had a problem with it. I hope this helps! |

Who said it had ghost steps? Other then selecting songs (but thats the fault of the user). Its too responsive, as in i can A Synchronized love and on a brand new arcade pad i get a B. It isnt like the arcade pad, everything is flush and you dont have to move that much to hit an arrow. _________________

uhh......u'll need to find a manufacturer that makes pads with polycarbonate arrows to start. also, you'll hafta make sure that the arrow's shape and size match ur pad's, although i think they're pretty much the same. i think redoctane and buynshop sell spare arrows don't they? i'm not sure so don't quote me on it. |

Ok, I don't see how a pad can be too responsive. Second, arcade grades are harder because the perfect window is smaller, probably the reason for your B at the arcade but an A at home with a flux. Third, yes, the pad is flush, but you aren't going to find a good arcade-like pad unless you buy these. All the other arcade-style pads on ebay are crap without mods, and the link I just gave you is two new beatgear pads, which were made to be as close to the arcade as humanly possible. The Cobalt Fluxes are great pads, and just because you don't like them because they aren't flush doesn't mean they suck. What I'm trying to say is that for the person who doesn't want to build their own pad, get a CF if you have the money, or get a beatgear if you really want the arcade likeness. |

They suck IMO. Jesus. Its too responsive, i bearly have to move to register an arrow. Maybe the Series 2 ones are better, but ive only played on a series one. It feels smaller then the arcade pad because it is flush, and the flush doesnt feel right. Nothing beats the arcade pads. I built my own metal pad, and it feels like an arcade pad. I can move my feet on the metal squares while im waiting for a song to start without doing something weird to the game. _________________

well the only reason i think that u can't move ur feet on the metal squares in the CF pad is that its only got one square to move on. every other square is an actual arrow or selection button. also, i can move my feet on my pad (not CF) and it doesn't register either. so i don't see a problem there.....and lastly, too responsive is NOT A PROBLEM!!!!! too little responsiveness is but not too much. unless its so responsive that jus leaving it there untouched will make it react, there isn't a problem.
am i wrong in stating that the CF doesn't have screws holding in the squares? cuz it doesn't look like it does, or mayb i'm jus blind that could be the problem for the flush thing.....if u don't like the CF pad u could always go with the RO. second best pad out there (in my opinion) and will last a while if not wrongly used. |

I cant see WHY someone would hate a Cobalt Flux.....maybe because they didnt have one?
I mean seriously, you played on a cobalt flux ONCE (assuming.....because of your post) and really, when you think about it...it IS going to feel different
Im not going to lie to you, i HATED my CF when i got it, the first game i played Mobo Moga and Aed it whereas i can blackflag at the arcade. Now, this kept happening within the first half hour i played and i was literaly pissed off that i had wasted 300+ dollars on an innacurate pad. After that half hour you get USED to everything being on the same level, you get used to it and thus my A on mobo moga went from an A to a AAA at home in just that half hour i got to get used to the pad. Once you get used to the pad you *wont* miss anymore steps or anything like that.
And im sorry, but if you hurt your foot because it hit the edge of the pad, either the pad moved or you step waaaay too freakin far from the center of it _________________

I played on it for about a half hour straight, maybe if i did own one i would get used to it, it was a first impression. I built my own pad anyway a long time ago ;. _________________
