What is the easiest way to convert PSx/XBox cable into USB or other adaptor compatible with Stepmania?

If there's aren't any easy methods, my most logical choice is to make my own xbox usb adaptor (which I have done so far, but not for xbox->pc connections.)

Alright thanks.

Although, I checked EB, and they don't carry any of these adaptors... The manager talked to me for about 30 minutes explaining why they don't carry much PC stuff these days.

Because I'm anxious to try out the pad (Mad Cats Beat Pad Pro erm.gif ) I'll work make my own adaptor since its cheaper, and faster than trying to hunt down one.

The pad thankfully supports both PS2 and XBox connections. Because of this, it had an xbox break-release connector, which I attached one end of a cut extension cord, and all it needs now is a male USB connector, and its set.

I'll post some pics if it turns out well.

Ok, I made my adaptor.

I tried connecting it to my PC but it won't recognize it. I tried the DDR XBCD Driver, and nothing.

So, to make sure my cable was good, I connected my Xbox controller, and it was detected fine, and I installed the driver for that.

Is there something I am doing wrong with my pad? The pad is getting power (as the lights turn on when plugged in), but its not recognized.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: Fixed links so they work as direct links now.

The Mad Catz Beat Pad Pro (XBox/PSx):

When I made an earlier cable to connect a USB device to my XBOX (in this case, a mouse, and keyboard for XBox Linux so I could use it as a computer... More Info is @ http://www.xbox-linux.org/)

Pic of USB -> XBox cable http://www.geocities.com/beliefx20/fUSB_xbox.html

I used a cheap $5 xbox controller extension cable, cut off one end, and attached a USB female plug... It was this other extra I used for my new cable. The USB end came from a printer cable. Pic http://www.geocities.com/beliefx20/Homemade_Adaptor.html

Because the Pad had the opposte Inline Release connector, it was simple to connect the extension to the pad, like so. http://www.geocities.com/beliefx20/adaptor_beatpad_far.html

Has anyone had luck getting this pad to work on a PC? It's either the pad, my cable (though it works fine with XBox controller, or some other variable)

If an XBox Controller S, connected through my adaptor is detected, and works fine, what does it mean if my pad does not?
