Is it possible to use Stepmania to customize a dance song using a legal mp3?
How would I do that? What do I need to do?
Thanks,

It is of legal to create the stepfile, just not legal to distribute the mp3. As for the "how to" part, the Simfile Creation Help Thread is a good place to start. Also, check out the FAQ. _________________

I think it should be fine, I have Toxic and I don't think the song was altered at all. _________________

That's got nothing to do with what he's asking about.
And to answer the question, no its not legal unless you do like Konami and get a license to use the song. _________________

If you own the CD or the MP3 (You can own an mp3 by buying it from itunes or whatever), and make the stepfile for your use only, then yes it's okay. When you distribute it over the web, then it becomes illegal. _________________
