It could be the slots too. Try this:
When you put in your tokens but before you hit start, the game's title screen will come up. Superimposed over the logo shoulds be some flashing Japanese text in white/orange/yellow (don't remember exactly). It effectively says "Please insert your memory card now."
If you don't see that, then the slots aren't set up properly.
If you do see it, this is the proper time to insert your memory card. _________________

If the text is scrolling, then its joint premium. If its mem cards, it is flashing, if its both its scrolling on the bottom and the text is smaller that is flashing. _________________

It is just me, or is it getting really hard now to find new PS1 memory cards in the stores? Some places already got rid of their PS1 sections. |

Okay, I took my mem card to the arcade the other day and the maintanance man was there. Everything worked fine except the auto-save feature. We went into the "Memory card options" menu and everything was turned on, it looked like this:
Flash Card memory OKAY/ON/whatever it says here
Playstation card memory same
Flash Card ENABLED
Mem card ENABLED
Store Edit data
Delete Edit Data
Clear edit data
but when I tried to play a game after putting my mem card in for a set then taking it out for the next and the saves weren't there. We ended up putting the edits on save by save, so the flash is indeed on, it's just not saving in game. The operator said that he'd be willing to make any changes necessary to activate the autosave function...but we have to know what those changes are and he comes every monday morning, so if someone could get back before then I'd be really happy. _________________

I don't know the particulars. I think I even took the "autosave" functionality from someone else's misinformed brain. So I could be wrong. Someone who owns/maintains a machine (Sfetaz/Ho-Man/BakaOrochi (or whatever his name is right now) ) would be better equipped to tell you the answer. _________________

I got a question....
I went to an Amusement park and there was a DDRMAX with mem slots....they worked and all but I didnt bring my card. There were about like 5 or 6 edits saved on the machine for songs like Centre of Heart and nori nori nori, they were saved as S-Basic and they had the AC: in front of it and I'm guessing that means that they are saved in the machine. I played one of the edits and it was just like light steps. So my question is...Can edits pre-loaded on a machine? I don't know why anyone would pay 50 bucks to get into an amusement park and then bring their memory card and have the tech open up the flash drive to put some basic edits on it. _________________

Some of the older mixes (notably 3rd Mix) had some edits preloaded on install. I don't know enough to say whether or not DDRMAX does.
AC: means that the edit is saved on the machine. I believe "MC:" is displayed if the edit is actively loaded from the memory card. _________________

i have extreme jap, and all i wanna do in life is play my own edited steps, after reading the 14 pages of this and being thoroughly confused from one end to the other, i finally understand you don't need link data to play edited steps, but my confusion is getting the edit data to a ps1 card. i saw someone else post the same question, and the solution was to copy only the steps and not the entire edit library, and the steps would only take like 8kb instead of the 317 or whatever for the entire library.
is this something i need the dexdrive for? or am i just missing out on how to copy to a ps1 memory card since i don't read japanese?
please help!
if the answer is hidden in the mists of this thread, just say so and i'll re-read everything |

I'm not sure if it's in the thread or not, but in either case, I'll help ya.
You don't need a DexDrive.
Once you've made your edit and saved it to the Edit Library, go back to the Edit main menu, and go into the Library Manager. From here, select your edit and hit Triangle. Select "Output". The game will ask you a bunch of confirm messages, just hit Hai to everything and it'll write the 8 KB file to your PS2 memory card.
Now, reboot your PS2 without the game in it and enter the Browser. You can use the Browser to copy the PS1 save to a PS1 card. _________________

that's awesome! thanks a lot
so what's it like to have godlike knowledge?
in the options under the memory card section for ddrex(j), it has (DDRMAX Support) and (DDRMAX2 Support)
is that what these are for?
if you make edit steps (not link data) in the american games (konamix, max, max2) are they compatible at the arcade? provided you put in money, then memory card, wait for it to say its been indexed, and start the game? |

That's for unlocking everything in your MAX Jpn. or MAX2 Jpn. home version saves.

They won't work. It's something to do with different machine codes saved on the US edits. You can only get them to work by changing those codes on your computer. _________________

Thank you for anwsering my question earlier in the topic. Now, I have another question.
I'm importing Extreme for PS2 and getting the nessicary things to play import games. I got the game frm Lik-Sang, which says the following:
Quote: | Lik-Sang says:
DDR bursts forth once more with all new songs and content. The version contains Normal mode, Beginner Mode, Nonstop/Oni mode & Link/Edit mode.
|
The quote can also be found here.
Now, to anyone who happens to also have Extreme from Japan: Is there a Link Mode, and when this data is transferred to a PS1 memory card, does it let you use it on Extreme Arcade? _________________
