5. remove the PS2 cover
6. take off the screws holding the cd drive cover on
7. take the cd drive cover off

You don't need to fiddle with any cables or anything. You must be very confused. All you need to do is take the DVD drive magnet out of the CD drive cover and put it in the fliptop. Picture of the DVD drive magnet is here http://www.richspsxparts.com/v4.html

My friend learned from another friend, and showed me how you could play games that wouldn't normally play in a Playstation 1. The process only required two CDs, a legit readable (game CD I suppose), and the import/copy of the game you wish to play.

He used something to suppress the cd button inside of the playstation (while cd lid is open), so that the PS would operate while the lid was open. Then he proceeded to switch the legit game with the other game between loading spurts, and the game played without any modchipping.

He probably switched it several times, perhaps 3 or 4. I didn't count, but I can ask him about it later. I think he just kept going until it loaded his game.

This is just for PS1, which has the top loading cd drive. Disadvantage is that it will be playing game with lid open.

Oops, maybe i should of checked this thread more often.

Anyway to anyone that worries about shipping their console across the country, Quick Mods resides in Lansing, Michigan.

We just got rid of the magic chips and added new Duo2, Messiah 2 Pro v2.00, and Matrix Infinity. Also to reflect the recent price changes of the PS2, our premods went down $30 and the network adapter is free.

To the guy that said something about how the DMS3 only works 50-70% of the time, i think your friend didnt know what he was talking about. Or was misinformed. Currently the best chips now is the DMS3 and the Matrix Infinity, not the messiah 2 pro.

I'm not a real fan of fliptops just cause over time it becomes a hassle, but the option is there which is offered at different sites.

To the guy that didnt know how small the solder points were on the DMS3, I was thinking about adding a picture in the install section showing how tiny it is by having another object near it as a comparison. In our install pics you can kind of tell how small it is by looking at the solder point and then looking at the zoom-in box pic. The distance between those solder points is like the width of a razor blade, so its pretty tough to do.

I'd have to agree with Jason. When an easier option is available such as the modchip the previous option such as the fliptop becomes a hassle.

You will know what i mean how it is a hassle when used overtime.

Its just like a gameshark and if you read the first page youll see that things like gameshark require some way to switch it out.

Instead of getting a modchip for your PSX, why dont you get one for your PS2 (or fliptop) so you can play DDR games like Extreme, both of the MAX's and Party Collection?
