"If there were a country in the world called Funia, Disco House would be its national anthem, as well as the name of its capital city. I was once walking down the street late one night when a hooker called to me from the curb, asking me if I was looking for some fun. "No thanks, Miss" I replied, pulling out a set of headphones. Hey... you forgot me! cpurola. (g)
Not only that, I'll bet there are alot of us 'closet' 'old people' who love DDR.
Going to the local arcade can be a little intimidating for us slower people.
I haven't tried it alone yet, without my 'token' young person beside me. (g)
Oh, and about my knees... I discovered quite by accident that if I keep my legs tense and not stretch them in between the songs, like 17yr.old daughter does, that my knees don't hurt as much when I'm done. Things are different when you're older. hrumph!

Yeah, I'm also willing to bet that there are more lurking out there...

That's really counter-intuitive... I can't think of a good reason why keeping tense would help. Tense muscles are more prone to pulls and strains... which tells me your problem isn't muscular. Maybe keeping your muscles tight is helping to support your ligaments. You might want to try playing with knee braces or knee pads. That might help to "hold everything together" without requiring those tight muscles to do all the work. |

I'm in the process of getting my Mom to play with me, but she hasn't been able to yet because her back's been bothering her. She says that the second she feels better she'll try it. _________________

Why are you arguing with yourself??
But anyway, it's inspirational to hear about sightings like that. As this thread is illustrating, "mature" Heavy players are a rare breed. |

my mom (she's like, 48) played ddr in the arcade with me once, we had just bought new shoes across the street and i had to test them out... she passed "only you" on her second song, i was pretty impressed. then she went home and started playing on konamix when no one else was around... i didn't know until she came up to me one day and said I PASSED DROP OUT ON BASIC WITH A C!!! it was so great. she's very encouraging when i come home from the arcade and yell I PASSED MAXX UNLIMITED WITH A D!!! _________________

My mom played with SUPERSAPIEN and I for a while but once I surpassed her (we started at the same time), she slowly gave up. She was the one one who got me to play in public for the first time w/ her! She was getting good at standard. But now she works two jobs so she has no time And my dad thinks it's stupid and that hes too good for it.
My mom is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously. _________________

I agree! Your mom rules... and your dad sounds like he has a serious attitude problem. I think he got old way before his time. |
