See, every time I end a sentence, I always double space after the period. But the problem is that with the actual post, a space always gets lost. See what I'm typing right now? I'm double spacing, but you'd never know it unless you quoted me and looked at it.

It's not a big deal by any means, I'm just curious as to why it's like that.

HTML doesn't do double spaces. If you want to do double spaces in HTML, you need to make a non-breaking space, or   . I don't allow HTML on here, so you'll have to live without them.

You shouldn't be double spacing your periods anyway. The convention for double spacing after periods is only for fixed width fonts, such as typewriters. That's why teachers tell you to do that. They learned on typewriters, which follow the convention of double spacing after periods. For variable width fonts, you're supposed to use single spaces. Now that computers are everywhere, you almost always never use double spaces. It's a bad habit to get into, unless you're on a typewriter or use Courier New all the time.

Holy shizit. Really? Oh damn, I always thought...but...It's not fair frown.gif You're right, I checked a few books, and that's how it works(god only knows why I never noticed). Argh. Ah well, I'll try to get over it and do it the proper way.

Thanks!

Haha, no problem. It's one of those things that bug me, because old school people still insist on teaching that way E15.gif

Haha, very well explained. I got into the habit of double spacing after periods and haven't broken out of the habit. It looks nicer, in my opinion, but is incorrect.

I didn't do it because I was lazy, and now found I was right all along.

Thank you JDogg E7.gif

I know that, but I still use two spaces, because that's how I was taught and I can't break the habit. >_<
