I was reading this thread and notice the term "jackhammer" was used twice. I have no clue what it meant and looked in the DDR Dictionary but it isn't there. So I was wondering if someone could explain it to me and add it to the DDR Dictionary.

In that thread, they mean jackhammers as those quick 1/16 note runs in Grad. Cyber. Look at the bottom quarter or so of the second column of the stepchart.

On the other hand, I've heard the word jackhammers used to describe repeated 1 arrow sections (see: CSFIL Speed Mix), and runs like those in Grad Cyber referred to as "machine gun runs."

I'm not sure which use of the term jackhammers is more widespread.

where i'm from, 'jackhammer' means repeated stomps on the same arrow and 'machine gun run' generally means fast alternating stomps on two arrows.

Oh, I always thought those were called trills. You know, like in music.

Machine Gun examples- Max 300, V (Oni), Across the Nightmare (heavy/Oni)

Jackhammer examples-Jam Jam Ragaee, CSFILSM, Electro Tuned (min-jackhammer steps)

There, my two cents!

We should probably be adding the 'flags' to the dictionary. Unless someone has done that and I never knew...
And it doesn't look like it biggrin.gif.
