i have not had actual experience with the TX-2000 pad, but i wouldn't get it if i were you. the bar on the back will not hold anyone who will use it frequently and it doesn't even have a control box!! plus the one screw thing isn't good in my mind. it won't hold the arrows in as well as the 4 screw pads.. |
I have the TX-1000 and it has yet to give me any technical problems. The 1 screw construction does a decent job to hold the arrows in place. The arrows aren't cut off as much at the edges near the center and are held in place by the inner metal rim. The only problematic area I see about the 1 screw build, is the upper 2 screws the hold the left, top left, top, top right, and right. There is the imprint of the washer on the top left and right arrows, but I don't do solo much and the left, top, and right arrows are in pretty good conditions at where the screws are.
From the ebay ad, there is a control box...
I doubt the TX-2000 would differ too much except for the addition for the bar. I agree with Hit that the bar is no where like the real thing in the arcade. I'm glad that I don't use the bar (yet I don't play 10 foots, but those still possible w/o bar) so I can save more money for a pad that doesn't have one.
I think that TX-#000 in general is better than a cyphergames pad, but probably not by much, since it lacks polycarbon arrows From my experience, after I modded it, the pad is holding up well.
I probably be posting some pictures of TX-1000 soon. |

It's not for me. If I were to buy another hard pad, I'd get a 2nd Flux.
Somebody is trying to decide between the TX-2000 and the Flux, so I'm just trying to dig up some helpful info. |
flux vs tx? I don't think thats a fair match I'd invest that extra cost of the bar for a flux, if thats possible. The bar is really not that realible for 40-70lbs metal pads. Aren't acrade pads like 200+ pds? |

i guess the main idea is that your body will keep the pad from tipping. unfortunately when you hang onto the bar, your weight tips it over anyway....good idea though.... |

Sorry to ask the same sort of question as everyone else but...
My husband, DDR obsessed too, has a birthday coming up in July.
Now I want to get him a metal pad, I know this is the only material thing that he wants, but we don't have much spare money since we're both in college. At MOST I can spend 250. Now I need a pad that will last at least 6 months for someone playing on heavy, dun worry about weight issues he only weighs 120 pounds, and if there are any pads that meet my requirements, where I can get them and about how long it will take to get it actually to my house. Arr... Please help! PM me email me, [email protected], or just reply here, but I'm really lost on this one guys.

And one last question, does anyone know of any mods to make the pad quieter, as in we live in family housing on campus and that means that there are poor souls that leave under us, I need something that could absorb some of the shock so they wouldn't hear us stomping around. _________________

Sinistar wrote: | I'd say go for the Red Octane metal pad. It's supposedly pretty good and fits into your $250 limit.
As for mods, you could put a blanket under it or go to some place like Pep Boys and get some padded shop floor covering. It's $8 for 4 squares of it. The same stuff is also sold as exercise mats. |
I agree with his suggestion for RO. Before you play on the pad, I suggest you do the sheet metal mod to help the pad last longer.
As for the sound issue... its kinda hard to avoid especially if your upstairs. The above suggestions are something to try, but when your playing ddr with shoes on heavy mode, I dunno if it will mediate all the noise and vibrations. Is there other places you could play like a study or lounge?
I lived in a dorm last semester and I was scared at playing ddr on my metal pad with my shoes too much. I tried playing with my socks, its not as noisy, but so slippery and hurty Like I said, I didn't play alot with my shoes, but the people below were either not there, didn't mind, didn't hear anything, or thought it was someone just typically blasting their speakers. Playing on my ignition pads in the dorm were no problem at all.
See if you can find some material to address the noise, play on it for a little bit, and ask the people downstairs if they heard anything and if the noise bothered them. I remember me and some friends was playing DDR in an apartment on crappy soft pads and people downstairs were knocking at their ceiling. So yea, don't piss off your neighbors.

can anyone give me some experienced info on how long their metal pads have lasted? like if u have an RO tell me how long u've had it and if it's had any problems.....any pad will do. i'm makin a chart to see the average time span of all metal pad brands. with that kinda info i can judge if the pad is worth the price |

A bar is sold seperately for a CF. And it only sold in pairs seen here. In truth, the best pad with a bar is no where as reliable as the arcade. The pad isn't as heavy enough to not prevent a person tipping the pads over when leaning or sitting his/her weight on the bar. The extra cost, in my opinion, is not worth it. |

Oops. No wonder the description for the bar didn't make sense. $25 for a piece to connect two CF together during gameplay. What will they commodify next?
You're doing yourself a favor by not being a bar hugger. Unless you love to do 10/insane footers over and over again... would be an exception |

thats what i thought. its better to get used to playing without a bar cuz then u can play well at home and even better in the arcades i guess cuz the bar helps with balance.
do any of u know a song where it has like 20 super fast steps in a row on the same arrow? i saw some person playin that song and it was crazy. jus askin....mayb it was on extreme? |
