I made a Riptide pad and it works alring extept for the contacts.....some sides skip while others dont respond at all....I can still do good on it but sometimes it will just crap out.
What other options are there for contacts. The screws are just.....stressful (in both tweaking and installation). I've seen things about using sheetmetal for the contacts but never how or where to put em.
If this has been already discussed please point me in the right direction (90 some pages is a hella lota reading).
BTW is DDRHomepad's Pad the same height as Riptides? I want to make another one for doubles purposes and so I can have VS games with others but I dont want a drop in height when I play doubles.
Thanks Much! _________________

melonman - No, they are not the same height. You might be able to put a board under the DDRHomePad (the thinner one), if it's not a weird height. Do the math yourself. |

okay.. i was just wondering ... k.. you know the pad from geocities.. the one.. where there the bottom half of the arrow and the top.. well.. im wondering.. if the weather stripping is screwed onto the outsides of the pegboard.. on the bottom half of the arrow?? because if you scrwed it on the sheet metal.. it would cause a short right? and.. if i have to cut gaps on the corners of the sheet metal.. on the bottom half.. of the arrow.. to fit more weather stripping...??? and the foam core.. goes on the corners of the corner of the peg board.. underneath the brackets right.. so.. on each side. theres two pieces of weather stripping... with 1/2 inch gaps.. and 1 going in each corner?? plzzz help!!!! any suggestions would be helpful |

I want to make a DDR pad with lights in them, but there aren't any ones with the instructions and dimensions I need...
I like Patster's but I don't know the dimensions and such, and all the other info. _________________

You might have been trying to use an old link. The attbi.com account no longer exists ever since comcast took over. The correct address is now http://home.comcast.net/~patster/home.html
I've been gone for some time now cuz I just bought and moved to a new condo. Finishing my website has been on the backburner for quite some time now. I hate how it is only partially completed, but I felt that at least sharing the pictures would give people some inspiration to build their own designs. I'm always happy to answer questions, just pm me. |

Since Patster and Blue Beefman have made an appearance, I might as well update what's been going on. My pads have been in the garage for almost a year gathering dust. I've been too busy building an arcade controller and playing all those games on MAME and other emulators. I recently brought one pad back in the house and it still works. I read this thread once in a while but, every question has been asked and answered many times over and guys like Hooded_Paladin and tolookah have done a great job helping everyone else. I still can't believe these threads are still going after almost 2-1/2 years. _________________

1/8 inch 12x12 polycarbonate sheet http://freckleface.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/polycarbonatesheet.html $3.90... two would cost 7.80 cheaper than the one you would buy (i dont know how those are, or how authentic they are, but 1/8th inch polycarbs will take a beating, and 1/4 inch is what a good number of battlebots use... any thicker and it can take bullets) _________________
