Not to discourage anyone, but hooking your legs on the support bar and slapping arrows with your hands is not going to award you anything but hand herpes.
Has anyone ever won a legitimate tournament in the past two years by doing a bar trick? Chances are no. =\
Seriously, guys. Just learn to dance, and then bring it to the pad. |
I think these are the basics and for starters....learn to have confidence and then move to bigger moves! Even if its just slap the arrows with hands its dosn't spoil the fun, diffrence between expert and beginner expert just do a whole lot more complex stuff! ......Practice Makes Perfect! _________________

Freestyling videos
Does anyone have videos of people actually freestyling? The tips section had a few links, but they were all broken. I've been trying to free style on some Light and easy Standard songs, but I just end up off balance and looking silly. |

You thought that was impressive? What if I told you that that is the standard around here. Every freestylers goal is to look their best and have fun doing it. Already knowing how to dance is a big help, but if you dont thats still okay. Watch videos and go to dances. Play with other freestylers. Get exposed. Choose a style, then make it your own. And most of all, have fun. |

Heh. My friend and I love freestyling against each other. We make an interesting show since our dance styles are very different from each others. I think the best part of freestyling is when you get the opportunity to freestyle against someone rather than with. Especially against someone you don't know. Its fun when your moves challenges your opponents, and your opponents moves challenge your own. Freestyle battles are so much fun, and also draw a lot of attention from the crowds. Unfortunately, my friend and I are the only freestylers in our area, so we don't have much opportunity to challenge other people. Oh well. We're a good match for each other anyways. |

me and my friend(noobs) are doing a freestyle to speed over beethoven on basic, and theres a part where its just U..........D...........L...........U..etc for like 15 seconds, and in that time, I jump onto the side of the machine (the place where everyone puts their coins, purses, drinks) and leaning against the top of the machine, i start reading a biography of beethoven, whlie my friend is hitting both sets of arrows versus style, then at DDD i 360 off the machine and we keep going. Theres other parts to the freesatyle, but im feeling kind of lazy right now
i just wanted to know if thats original, or has it been done before??

The hand-damage isn't a problem - I using skateboarding gloves (and anybody who plans to use their hands at all should really look at some protection). And not to risk a Clash of the Captains, but it doesn't matter if anyone has ever won anything, ever, with the move - if it's fun, do it!
You're right about the basic idea though - just get up and dance. The bigger moves are a matter of personal choice.
Riku - that competitive FS sounds like a whole lot of fun. I've got a mate here with a majorly different style as well - but I can't really versus him because Doubles mode is my FS home. _________________

PS CaptainCanada, that On The Jazz FS is a great example of what you're talking about, and looks sweet to boot. Anybody looking for an example of dancing on the pads should check it out. _________________

Thank you. =)
And yeah, I guess I just get stuck in a freestyle-to-win mindset at times. If it's fun for you, then by all means, freestyle isn't about restriction.

Heh, sure is. I've known Indogutsu on there for a while, and thought it was pretty damn awesome that QHeretic got into freestyle and these boards.

Hah, yeah, rumor has it I'm in MvC3.
Well, Dollar Bill would have a couple of you from the FSRP; I gave him stuff to put on a server after I recorded it. Then I lost my hard drive. =| _________________
