sometimes, like in the case of la senorita virtual, there is a mistake made. challenge steps aren't necessarily harder than regular steps either, they're just different and made specifically for an oni course usually.
also, i hope that isn't naked Fry and Leela in your avatar. T_T _________________

standard is easy 8, heavy is hard 8
challenge steps are usually harder for songs because oni mode is a hard course, but sometimes for hard songs (sakura, max.(period), etc.) making harder would be almost impossible to do in oni mode so they make them easier instead. dont ask me about PSMO |

Or maybe, just maybe, their judgement of what is difficult or not is different than yours. _________________

It is, look at his profile, it shows his avatar at full size. And that's a damn small pad Fry's got. |

Most songs have an appropriate rating, though there are a few that make you say "This ain't a (insert #) foot song" I first noticed this on Afronova Standard, since it didn't feel like it should be 7 feet. Well, there's a lot of jumps in Afronova, and not everyone is good at jumps, so I suppose you could call it a 7 on standard. All songs are different though, which is why I always pat attention to the groove radar.
I don't really think Oni is one level up from Heavy. I just see it as a different interpritation of the song _________________

Yeah, you mention La Senorita Virtual as an 8 on standard and heavy. Also note, that Paranoia Max (dirty mix) is the same. And for anyone who cares, Love Love Shine is a 4 footer on both light and standard. OMGLOLZ
I think the reasoning behind challenge steps being easier than the heavy steps (i.e. Dance Dance Revolution, Kakumei, Sakura), is that they were all featured as the One More Extra Stage at one point (I believe that Sakura was a OMES at an Extreme test location, not sure though). My only guess as to why Max. (period) has easier challenge steps is to make you play the harder stepchart (heavy) on extra stage, since you can speed unlock it by passing it on Extra Stage. I don't know, that is what I think. _________________
