How long did it take you to move to Standard from Light ?
I do most of Light pretty good now but when I try Standard I fail pretty quick.
Any tips?
I've been playing for about a week now.

A good way to make the leap, is to go by feet rather than by difficulty... find some songs you're good at, and check out their feet rating, then find some songs on standard witht the same feet rating, you should be able to handle thse pretty well, and if you cant, just keep at it! You'll get there eventually...

How do you know the feet rating for a song?
And thanks for the help so far ! As a beginner, this site is still very confusing with all the terms that are so hard to understand. Still trying !

when your scrolling through songs, look at the difficulty graph, below it is a line of feet, count the number fo feet that are highlighted (yellow feet for light, red for standard, green for heavy)

Stay on light mode till you can A most of them, then move up to standard. if your only playing for a week, thats not a while to progress, i was on light mode for like a month before i went to standard

When I started playing at home with DDRMAX I did all of the songs in Light and didn't move to the next song until I attained an A or B rating. THEN I did Standard. This not only shows you your weaknesses (I passed Rhythm and Police on the first try but failed Groove 2001 multiple times) but also helps you become familiar with certain step patterns, reading arrows, etc.

But it takes patience to go that route.

i was playing light the second time i ever plaied ddr.. then standard then i got my pad at my house. all i can say is remember that the arrow pattern goes left down up right, and practice songs with faster bpms. o ya and and ongs like 5 footers. what i did was juts play on heavy and try reading the arrows and understand. thats all i really did to get frim light to standard and from standard to heavy. just adjust

Well.. I do all lights pretty well so far. Only missing the five footers (2 of them I believe) and the rest I do with about 80% perfect and rest on greats.
But I understand.. patience and practice and I know one week is not enough for anything.. just wanted to have some idea about other players' experiences.

Just do whatever level you have fun at. If you're bored at Light, then work towards a higher level. if not, say at Light. the point is to do whats fun.
