Hello every one, I, [ode|\|ame, come to you with this. In a matter of a month or so (If the local arcade will help me out witch I’m sure they will) I am going to be going for the DDR World Record for non stop game play. For those of you who don’t know the current record is 36 Hours (So I hear/ have read, if I am wrong some one please correct me). This will be a fund raiser for a charity of my choice, witch I’m not sure yet but I’m leaning strongly to a Cancer cause. If any one has any tips they can give me or just wants to let me in on some encouraging words they would be very much so appreciated. Also please post any other records you are all interested in/have read about. I dont know if its just me but Im pretty interested in some of the things that go on in DDR world! Thanks every one!

Awesome; go for the easy songs, the hard ones will wear you down. If you just stick to basic you'll be fine.

Also do it on heavy, it's not really a record if you don't do it like the other did and They played on heavy so I hear or I could be going for a record like that.

I don't know if that's true, and I don't agree with it anyway. The record is for "non-stop DDR playing", not "non-stop DDR playing on Heavy mode"

Make it a sponsored event with your arcade, you'll get more publicity for it E1.gif

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

heh... Then technically if your right I could go out and do the same thing and get money for charity... If I'd only be able to get anyone to believe me that I can play DDR really good and have them hold the event.

From what I read they did a combination of both, They did heavy and light songs and it was 2 people. The thing is that you cannot fail one song, Or you are done. The thing that happened is only one guy beat the record, because, some one in the crowd kept pushing one of the kids to go for a harder more fast pace song and he failed it and was then disqualified from the record. I will be going for slower paced songs on both heavy and standard. If any one would like to read the article I saved it http://bend.com/news/ar_view%5E3Far_id%5E3D12608.htm
Again thanks for the support every one.

P.S When I do this pictures of it and a full article of how things went will be posted on my web site!

It's my understanding that for the Guinness Book of World Records, it's super hard to do. For multiple reasons existing outside of DDR.

First, you need to arrange someone to be there from Guinness Records. Then you need to videotape the ENTIRE THING. If one battery on a camera is dying, you need to have another camera out and ready to be recording the time where you're switching batteries/tapes.

Then it needs to be done the EXACT same way the record holders did it. Meaning same machine and all. The people who hold the record (to my knowledge) did it on a Euromix.

I believe the way they were told to do it is to go through every song on Basic, then Trick, then Maniac and keep going around and around and around. They got a 5 minute break somewhere in there or something, but I don't know for how long or how far apart they were (like if it was 5 minutes every hour or 5 minutes every 10 hours).

Ah, see this is where I get confused. I heard/read it was on the 7th mix machine and it was any hardness they wanted as long as they did not fail. I e-mailed G-Book and asked them for official rules and so on to do this. I have 4 people who are willing to do this with me such as Videotaping and 2 adult witnesses witch is what I was told is the requirement. As of now I appreciate you telling me this it gives me a better understanding and lets me look more into different things. If it was Euro mix then I will see about setting a new record on the 7th mix machine. As far as the break thing, I heard 2 things 5 minute break every hour or you skip it and they build up OR 15 minute break every 8 hours im not sure witch it is officicialy Thanks again

No no, I want to beat it by a few hours. I want to make it an even 40 hours Im not going to try and beat it by a few minutes or even seconds. Im really gonna push my self and go for 40 or maybe more until I cant take the pain in my legs or I pass out. I want to lock my record in for a good time.

It was every 8 hours u get a 15 minute break. you also need to be 14 if you want it in Guinness and u need 2 witnessess there the whole time who aren't related to you.

Awsome awsome, I am 17 and the 2 witnesses who said they would be there for me are good friends so it works out. Now if I go 16 hours with out a break (Not sure that will happen) will I get a 30minute break instead?

:O, 36 hours is a LOT. Good luck with your fundraiser. Personally, I could never play ddr for more than 6 hours. Unless of course I played on basic mode the whole time. As long as you guys have drinks and food then I'm sure it will bring a great turnout.

You can't do that. It has to be every eight hours, a 15 minute break. Didn't you send an email giving you the rules?

I sent an e-mail to Guinness book asking them to send me a copy of the official rules and also asking them to explain to me what is required as of this date. I have not yet received an e-mail back but to soon if too much time passes I think I will just give them a call. (If I can find a number of course)

Thanks for the support everyone its really pushing me to go for it, getting me psyched out and ready to go. St Jude house is a VERY worthy cause and I have donated to them many times as well as took part in walks for a cure for cancer to support them I think they will be the charity of choice here. Another record I thought every one might be a little interested in http://www.twingalaxies.com/cgi-perl/news_DDR_Max_2_Dance_Dance_Revolution_7th_Mix.pl This man doesnt have too bad of a combo at all!
