I would suggest these v3.0pads(v2.5 cost less, but it has the same picture of a hard foam, so I'm not sure about the type of foam) but they only sell these 2 pads with the game.

And that's what I bought. Thank you all E4.gif

I am playing Stepmania on my xbox, and I really need a new pad. The soft pad just isn't cutting it anymore. I am thinking about getting the game elements converter at walmart, but I also need to know which soft pad is the best for me.

I love playing on my friend's RO pad, but I don't want to spend $100. At max I want to spend $50, and I have been looking at the hard foam pads from levelsix, cypher, and buynshop.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these pads using the game elements converter for xbox? Which works the best using a converter? I almost bought the levelsix xbox pad, but then I saw that it is out of stock for a few weeks.

Thanks!

bns dx are good since they are cheaper to replace than ro

but remember you can always get the ones at levelsix.com

i haven't heard a detailed review about the pads

but i've heard they were good

I don't know how they compare to the BNS DX though =\

[levelsix 2.1 pads]

This converter that you're mentioning, would it be similar to this one? -> http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/238962.asp

I'm using two of those converters... (The Gemini Industry ones that I provided linkage to)

I'm glad to hear that the converter works well. I suppose the converter will work with stepmania if they work fine with Ultramix. Also, do you know if the Gemini Industry converters are sold in the b&m eb stores?

I think I will go with a bns dx pad since I have heard a few negative things about service at levelsix, and the xbox pads are out of stock. Also, sorry about the multiple posts, but I tried posting several times over the course yesterday and everytime I got a mail send error.

Thanks!

First off, you will hear negative things about all pads... some just have more negative comments than others. Myself, I'm not too fond of BNS pads, but that's because the first pair I got were more or less DOA, and their customer service isn't the best to deal with.

I've no idea what you mean by b&m eb stores... I know the canadian stores DO NOT stock them though.

Now, the converter, I can't say one way or the other... Going onto the stepmania adapter support area (scroll towards the bottom for Xbox adapters), you'll find this...

Universal PS2-Xbox & GC Adapter
Compatible
Manufacturer: Game Elements
Comments: Works beautifully, very responsive. These are found right now at most Electronics Boutique and Hastings Books & Music locations, $19.99 each.

This is quoted from here... -> http://www.stepmania.com/stepmania/adapter.php

I can't say one way or the other whether or not such with work with XB-Linux or not, my xbox hasn't undergone such treatment yet... I may buy a second one for such tho and hardware mod it. Maybe.

Well if Xbox <- ps2 convertors work then ya could easily get 2 ignition pads under $50 excluding shipping. Check out the ebay seller vortzgames is selling two "v3.0" (very important not 2.5) ignition pads for $40. These pads have the hard foam like BNS and levelsix and most resembles the levelsix pads.

Has anyone bought these v3.0 ignition pads from vortzgames, or is there a specific thread about them? It looks too good to be true to me. If everything were to go well the total would be about $55 or so, but there is no mention of the pad having raised buttons. Also, do the diagonal buttons on the v3.0 vortz and v3.1 levelsix correspond to the buttons as well as the solo steps?

If I can be certain the vortz pads are just as good as levelsix and bns pads, that might be the way to go so I could have a backup, or extra pad if I get two converters.

My three week old soft pads are shot. The sensors don't pick up anything! luckly I only spent about $60 on both (came in a bundle), and I got free PS2 extention cables <==== those really help with how much these pads move. In about, Mmmm, two weeks the foam and the arrows started to curve, and soon after that they just stopped working. So, if you're somebody who plays a lot (like 3/4+ hrs. a day) and plays on high levels (standard and heavy) do not get these pads (ignition 2.0). They are worthless. As a word of advice, if you're good, and want good pads, always go for the hard ones. I'm working on getting me some arcade pads for about 750 bucks.

You do realize that TRUE arcade pads are 221lbs PER SIDE, right? (Info taken from the DDR Aracade FAQ)

Pictures of vortzgames pads posted here

Most if not all the latest versions of ignition pads have raised buttons. In the description, they do say convex (bulges outword) arrows. So the buttons on this pad should be raised. The diagonal buttons of vortz and levelsix do correspond with solo steps as long as you map the button.

After seeing those pictures, I think I might just go ahead and bid on a pair. From the pictures, the pads look comparable to RO's, BNS's, and other ignition pads. Too bad I will have to spend more money on the converters than I did on pads!

Sorry in advance if this has been written before, but i didnt feel like going through 58 pages of posts just to find something. I have a couple MadCatz PS2 pads and i want to mod them. I have seen many ways to mod them and i'm not sure what way would make it last the longest. I've heard a lot about the chair mat modding, but does anyone know where i can find instructions (with pictures) on how to do it? Has any one done this one ----> http://www.ddruk.com/articles/display.php?id=41 ?? If you have, does it work good? And what about the one where you tape it down to a piece of wood? any advice would be appreciated E1.gif

well my friend has a Redoctaned pad(not an ignition) and he did something like that mod.....he put wood under his pad and about an inch of foam between the wood and the pad.
It seemed to work well until his mat broke(from stopping(newer player)too much).
But it was still in the warantee but anyways it did work fairly good and i would suggest you DO NOT staple it incase you ever have to take it off the mat E1.gif that was his mistake =/

anyways thats all i can say considering it wasn't the same exact mod.

Hoped i helped.

From the pictures posted, the Voltz pad look IDENTICAL to the 'Mymybox 3.0) pads I got in December ( I think I paid $90 for 2 frown.gif ). Overall, I'm very happy with the pads (thought the were a great improvement over my previous Mymybox 2.5b pads) but after 4 months of play one of them is starting to get ghost steps. (I think that's better than my 2.5 pads which were showing signs after 1 or 2 months).
