OK guys I've looked at pretty much every soft foam insert pad on ebay and I was wondering if any of you had purchased any of them or could give some insight. Here are the 6 I have "narrowed it down to".

1 (Link)

2 (Link)

3 (Link)

4 (Link)

5 (Link)

6 (Link)

1-seems like a nice deal to me. Need more info on the free extras.
2-not bad, nice pads to me.
3-I like these and the seller says its compatible with an adapter he sells.
4-Very similar to some of the other pads. I dont like how the surface is so smooth and "poofy" its hard to tell if the arrows are raised. It looks like it could get kind of slipper if there is that air pocket between the surface and the foam.
5-errr same as another one. Nice product.
6- looks kinda tack and cheap. I don't know if it has a zipper either.

So has anyone bought these, can anyone comment on the density of the foam or anything like that?

I think all of those pads don't have the hard foam BNS and RO offers. I have 1 and 5, one from discount-auction, and they are DDRNation pads. Made by BNS and very similar to BNS line, just w/o the hard foam. 6 isn't that bad either and its cheaper, tho it has soft foam. The other selections are older ignition models with not so good foam. Vortzgames dealer was the only one selling ignition pads with hard foam... but currently he is selling xbox pad with game. Your best bet is to go with number 6(just for price) and buy hard foam from http://www.levelsix.com/

Goto http://www.stepmania.com/ and goto adapter sections to see which adapters will work for PC.

Is this a new RO or its just recently started acting up? Does the pad still light up? Does the pad initially work for a short time and die?

I was curious if anyone has any experience with the adaptor (for the pc) that ships with the BNS ignition type pad. I'm considering buying one and wonder if the money saved on the adaptor is a factor to consider. Thanks. The link to the site is below.

Vortzgames

These are either very similar or the exact model that BNS sells for less. I bought one from this dealer and it works fine after the code( up+start+select ) is activated.

Oh btw, this is the seller thats has Ignition pads with hard foam here *note v3.0

After reading through half of these pages...i decided to post.
From what i read the BNS DX pad seems to be the best and most reliable.
I have friends who have the ignition 2.0 by redoctane.
One of them had their pad break in 2 months.
The other started having theirs malfunction.
I like doing faster songs up on standard and heavy.
Will the BNS DX hold up for me?
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, my experience doesn't seem to be the same as everyone else's here (my two replacement pads are still going good, so I'll write off my first two pads as faulty from the factory - hell, one of em had a water damaged PCB when I ripped it apart for the LEDs), as well, I'm in Canada.

As I said about two pages ago, my experience with BNS was pathetic. Emails took a good week to be answered (any other company I've dealt with has a turnaround of 18 hours or less for emails... 24 hours on weekends), and when I called their customer service (which is long distance, and no 800#) the reps seemed helpful, although occasionally you get a rep that doesn't know what they're talking about (Like claiming it costs them $54.95 USD to ship two pads and a copy of DDR Konamix... Funny, my packing slip from FedEx says $17.95 USD.). BNS tried getting me to pay customs fees, even though the previously stated fact about costs of shipping is true - the rest of that money should've been used to cover customs fees... Just like RO does - same cost, no letter from FedEx demanding $38.21 CAD two months later.

Their customer service I'd have to say is hit and miss, and they've this tendancy to keep you on the phone a lot longer than necessary... Oh, and put you on hold for very long periods of time. frown.gif

As for the problems I occasionally have with my pads... Well, that might be from doing cata attacks. biggrin.gif

Oh, and DDRwannabe123... I'd say the BNS pads work for heavy steps... She doesn't move that much when I'm attempting Max 300 on heavy, and I can almost AA Max 300 on Standard with the pad...

Hello E1.gif I recently recieved my BNS pad in the mail. When I plugged it in and turned on the Playstation, it seemed that a button was stuck and screens just kept advancing on their own, through the main screen, difficulty choice, song selection, up until the dance screen, where the game as unplayable. However, I somehow figured out that I can turn on the Playstation, THEN plug up the pad, and it works absolutely 100% perfectly.
Has anyone ever heard of this? I can't imagine what may cause it. I can certainly get by like this, because I've gone from getting Cs and Ds with my old pad where the back arrow doesn't work to getting As and AAs. However, is there a possibility for long-term problems? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

my raised arrow moved on my level 6 igniton pad and im going to cut it open and move them back into place, if i unzip it and cut underneath i have to cut though the sensors, now if i cut around the sensors and not underneath the arrows where they register would that make it stop working all together?

hmm less the $60 wow thats hard

I just would just recommend BNS DX ones
http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/44/VG-DDR-ULTDX/

There are some bad reviews about BNS..but that's just about their customer service..I jus ordered it and got it..didn't deal with customer service.

The pad is excellent though for the price..instead of getting the RO ones
[lasted 2 years..freestyles and heavy]

I wouldn't recommend getting the NX at all from BNS
my friend had those..they packaed them so tightly in a box..so when we play with its all folded..unless you mod it...when it came out some of the buttons didn't work..probably because of the bad packaging.

Again, I would recommend BNS DX
You can also check out the 2.1 at levelsix.com for 15 bucks cheaper
[though i haven't heard any bad reviews about them?]

But 2 good pads under $60? maybe your better off getting regular pads then modding them ^^

[I wouldn't recommend getting any pads from eBay!]

So this is a reliable mat and it would last for a long time?
Because i am getting it and my friend might get it but he is new to DDR and most likely will stomp and i have seen pads break to stomping

So this will last for at least a year?
Sorry for all the questions but i need it to last(kid with no cash).
ANyways i would appreiate anyone's input,

v2.1 has the shiny, plastic, sticky feel surface like a BNS and RO. While 3.1 has a more fabric, slicker surface like MyMyBox. I prefer plastic sticky type cause I have decent grip when wearing socks, while I tend to slip around more on fabric type if I wear socks. Both pads have 8 arrows, despite there not being an graphics. I've played on v3.1 I think, and it seemed that I have to exert more force when stepping on the arrows compared to BNS/RO version. So if you liked the surface and want similar response like your old BNS, I'd go for the v2.1.

BNS DX is the better buy for the price than RO if it does break. But BNS and RO in general should have the same reliability and quality. The lifespan of the pad will depend on the amount of use and the maintanance of the pad. Try not to fold the pad, address any tears with duct tape and don't yank the cord. As for the insert under the arrow moving, you really can't do much except hope that it was manufactured correctly. As long as you take good care of the pad, it should last you for a while. I've had a BNS for almost 6months, playing 7-9 and still functional after some repairs (cord was being yanked and had to replace control box).

The customer service isn't that great. Email is very slow and from what other said, their call service will vary depending on who answers, but is a better form of immediate contact. As long as the item in in stock, aren't international and give the correct address and they process the right address, then your order should be processed within 1-2 business days, and if standard delivery from CA to somewhere on east coast it'll take about 5 business days. Less if you live closer.

If you want to really save some cash, these could be an option for you. They are like v3.1 and the only confirmed pads on ebay with "hard" foam. Note, its v3.0 and not v2.5 that has "soft" foam.

I would suggest these v3.0pads(v2.5 cost less, but it has the same picture of a hard foam, so I'm not sure about the type of foam) but they only sell these 2 pads with the game. There are other places, like levelsix but getting 2 would be over your budget. Ebay would be the only place for 2 decent xbox ignition pads, but the better version I've posted doesn't sell the xbox pads only (The other xbox pad on ebay are not good). You kinda lucked out at the moment for under $60 and 2 good pad for xbox. Unless you return ultramix and buy the bundle I posted and you could be within your budget riiight.gif

For reliability, you'll have to go with what others have said... The two replacement pads I have are still going strong, and I've had them for about two months now... The first two I've written off as defective from the factory - mainly due to the water damaged PCBs when I opened them up for parts... (Hey, I wanted the LEDs... They'd work for my computer case, but I digress)

Now, I'll have to admit something here... I tend to play like four hours a day or so, but on average about 20 hours a week - not everyone plays that much, so the two pads I've got right now may only last me say.. six months or so - I don't really know.

Now, the pads can have their moments (especially in Ultramix which doesn't have the "ignore button input" option like all the PS1/PS2 releases do), but to be honest... Most of the ghosting I've encountered was my own fault, my size 13 feet hitting both the arrow and the buttons underneath... or from having tried max 300 on heavy like six times in a row... biggrin.gif

Overall, I'd say they're a decent deal... If you're in the states. If yer in canada, I'd say deal with RO, mymybox or level 6 instead...
