One, you can really tell who reads all of the posts in a thread.

Two, I'll argue that for somebody who's never played So Deep, 1.5x / 2x makes it MUCH easier to discern the rhythms. But I've already done that.

Three...

Can we all put this thread to rest by agreeing on a few things?

1. Obtaining a AA on a song, regardless of mods, is a AA.

2. Obtaining a AAA on a song, regardless of mods, is a AAA.

3. Mods are designed to change the way the game is perceived. Obviously, a song on 1.5x is not perceived the same as a song on 1x. A song on stealth is not perceived the same as a song on dark hidden.

4. Many people have stated that speed mods make it easier to obtain perfects. Some are from people who play solely on 1x, and view speed mods as "cheating". Some are people that use the speed mods themselves, thus for them, speed mods make it easier to get perfects.

5. Many people have stated that different mods have different effects on different songs. Obviously, 3x on Bag and 3x on Max 300 are completely different scenarios. Likewise, hidden on Max 300 and hidden on Bag are also completely different scenarios. I would concur.

6. Many people consider AAA's on speed mods to be less impressive than AAA's without speed mods. Likewise, many people hold them in the same esteem. In this respect, with number 2 as a correlary, some people hold modless AAA's in higher esteem than modded AAA's, though a modded and a modless AAA are still equivalent in grade, score, and perfect count. Let's just agree to disagree?

Breaking it down...

Arguments for 1x:
- "It's true to the way the game is meant to be played." IE, 1x is the default mod setting.
- Some song difficulties are based on the player's ability to interperet arrows at 1x.
- There are notably a lot more AAA's on accelerated BPM's than on 1x.
- Mods are noted on the score screen with icons on the song banner, detailing which mods were chosen.
- The perceived perfect window is greater with speed mods.

Arguments for acceleration:
- They're in the game. If Konami, who made the game, thought it would be cheating, they would not have been included.
- Why are speed mods the only mods that are unfair? Why does "dark" not diminish the appreciation of a AAA?
- Most people who argue against acceleration do not have many AAA's, themselves.
- The actual perfect window is the same, regardless of speed mods.

I hope this wasn't a wasted effort.

I say everyone be happy with this and let the thread die, since everyone should already know we are not all going to agree in any other way. Good post Adamn.

Only mod I use is 2x.
Anything over 200bpm originally stays at 1x.
