|
|
I've seen at some sites that some controllers (especially Keyboardmania, maybe IIDX also, but not sure) aren't compatible with American PS2's. Is this true? Also, I've heard some things that some of the games won't work on modded PS2's (And at this, I mean having the REAL copy, not a burned copy). This includes IIDX 6th mix (and maybe 5th).
Is any of this true? Has anyone had problems like this? Can someone answer these questions? Ultimately, it will determine whether I mod my PS2 ($100) or get a Japanese PS2 (around $230, plus shipping). Apparently, this is a matter that may save me (or cost me) quite a bit of money. |

Any Playstation 2 controller can work with any Playstation 2, including Bemani controllers.
As for KeyboardMania, I don't know. I assume it would work, but I don't know. |

the only bemani thing you won't be able to play with a modded PS2 is PS1 games, due to their anti-mod measures. You'll need a modded PS1 for that. And maybe the Japanese Karaoke Revolution appends. |

The DMS3 plays appended games just fine give me about 10 minutes to test if it can play DDR 5th and 4th with no codes. _________________

The KBM controller works just fine on a US system. It's USB, but it works. And so far, the only problem you might have would be trying to play Pop'n Puzzle Online, because that will not work with a US net adapter, as far as I can tell.

The only things that won't work are the Japanese versions of Karaoke Revolution, UNLESS you get the microphone shipped with the japanese game. _________________

Uh, that's just a compatability issue with the US mics, as those are completely different hardware. It's like using a USB four button controller VS a USB six button one. Well, bad analogy, but you get the idea. Same functionality, different hardware.
Japanese KR works perfectly fine with the Japanese mic on my modded US PS2, never had a problem with it. _________________
