Anywho, I know some peeps don't like mods and I don't see why. They are just doing their jobs which they say over and over again that they "don't get paid for". I know that some talk to them through aim and such. Overall, I don't really mind mods at all. They are like cops. If you like to do f@ck up things, then you'll hate em. If you go on with your life, then you don't really notice them. |

Moderators are people just like you and me and everyone else on the board. They can be rather friendly just like anyone else. _________________

Yups and it's sad that peeps don't see that. I know there are some peeps out there that don't like the whole "authority figure." That's sad though... |

Like teenagers: You tell 'em to go right, they go left. You tell 'em to go left, the go left anyways cuz they know you're trying to get them to go right.
I like most (if not all) the mods here. I'd say they do a darn good job and get along with people just fine. well the more understanding ones anyways.
MSD = cool but im only saying that cuz he stickied my turny thread... _________________

I find that on any forum worth visiting (the ones with 10k+ members) the moderators tend to be fairly good guys/ladies*. Most forum administrators picked moderators the same way they get nominated around here: do they know the rules, appear generally helpful, act cordially, and have a brain in their head? The "good" members tend to move up in the ranks on the internet just like "good" people tend to move up in society. And it goes without saying that any forum with dork moderators is unlikely to reach any significant size.
Having met most of the moderators here: they're definitely good people and they're welcome at my house for a beer any time.
* of course I'm the exception to that _________________

I was just saying that to a friend over the weekend. Although the analogy used was a bit different. Sure, if you are friends with someone who is a cop, that's cool as long as they are off duty. Once on duty (if the cop sticks to his job), you really don't want to see them enforce anything on you. You'd rather have your fun secretly rather have a cop come and ruin it for you.
I got hated/liked very quickly after becoming a moderator. It's all about one's opinion of how the rules should be taken, and how a moderator enforces them. _________________

I think mods keep things in place. We all know now how crazy things can get. It's good to know that there are peeps here putting things in place and not getting out of control. It's probably hard for you guys, but if you like your job, then it's all good. |

I know how stupid questions are like. I use to work at a company where we took orders and I worked at Blockbuster before. Sometimes you met people and think, "Man, how are you able to live?" |

I don't mind the mods as long as they remain how they are now, and not power-hungry. _________________

It's funny because a lot of people accuse us of being power hungry.
On a message board.
On the internet.
Where we don't get paid.

I would think that if you guys were giving warning points for no reason left and right and closing threads down cuz you can. Basically using your powers without a real reason to. (Hehe, by saying powers it makes it seem like you guys are magicans or something. )

The only problem with that analogy is that cops enforce very specific rules of law, whereas the rules around here can often be arbitrary... such as mods closing threads because they're bored with them. Kinda like a cop running you in because he doesn't like your face. |

Rampage just needs love every so often to calm him down *hugs Rampage*. We need to keep him away from Chit-Chat since that seems to be what gets him all excited about locking stuff. _________________
