I've been thinking about this for a while. Since Birthdays seem to be inevitable as well as someone posting something about it, why not make a sticky for user Birthdays?
Perhaps the creator could update it every so often to have the thread title state who is celebrating a birthday on what day/week/month?
Just a thought... _________________

It depends on what forums you wanna set this idea into place on, kind of. If we only have the more popular members posting their birthdays in regional areas or Random Chat, a lot of the newbies and basically EVERYONE will want their birthday posted. If you want that responsibility, be my guest, but it seems too much of a hastle to sticky. _________________

I know I'd ignore it in a heartbeat. It'd be hard to tell when someone was posting a new birthday as opposed to a follow-on to someone else's "Happy birthday!" post. _________________

To be totally honest, I don't care about anyone's birthday I don't personally know. So finding the thread on a internet message board is rather impersonal. Meaning I am against the idea. _________________

Well the thread could be updated as I previously stated. The title changed to announce who's bday it is.

Well it is just a thought. It would cut down on individual birthday threads on specific members. _________________

Birthdays were banned in the New York forum. There's an announcement about it at the top of the forum. Phrekwenci, that perennial birthday hater, did it. I must admit I like it much better without the birthdays.
If you make them a sticky, nobody will read it (and it not really that important anyway). If you let them go in separate threads, they periodically multiply and at times overrun the whole forum.
Look at it this way, if you made a whole new forum just for birthdays - would anyone go to it? So therefore, the whole idea is just a waste of space. |

I agree w/ nystargate. There's no point in posting birthday announcements anywhere, although I'm not saying that should necessarily be a policy for now. _________________

Well, what if the sticky part got X-nayed and it was just one thread that pops up on occasion for updates? _________________
