Hiya, my name's Chris and I'm gonna be new to DDR. I'm buying a pad and one of the games, but which is played most (if that's possible to answer)? Does it really make a difference? And what's the difference between DDR and DDR2? I know all this could be answered by looking through the forums, but I don't really have much time at the moment to sit and look. Help? |

i've never heard of ddr2. perhaps you're thinking of 'ddrmax' and 'ddrmax2'?
anyway, to answer your question, i'd start with either max or max2 depending on which songs you like better. i think max is a little easier, and has more house music. when you have the money, get them all, except maybe ddrusa. it's not great. and i'm talking the american versions assuming youdon't have a modded ps2. if you have a ps2 that can play japanese games then by all means get extremejp.
if you have an XBOX then your only option right now is Ultramix (which sucks in my opinion but what are yougonna do)
as for the pads, i have two konami original pads and they work great if you glue it down to a piece of cardboard or wood. otherwise they bunch up and rip on harder songs. if you have enough money i have heard the Red Octane brand pads are pretty good, but what you'll want to do is go to the thread in 'console gaming' called 'soft pad discussion goes here'. all of these questions could probably be answered in console gaming. hope this helped. _________________

Oolong said it. If you want to play something easier play DDRMAX. If your just looking for the most played I'd get DDRMAX2 but the songs on that aren't as easy, but a lot more American songs such as Days Go By by Dirty Vegas, and The Whistle Song by DJ Alligator. _________________

Try no speed mods.. get konamix.
DDRMAX has some good songs, and so does DDRMAX2. Just get both of them.. |

just because speed mods are there doesn't mean you have to use them. _________________

I'll pretend you didnt say that
I would get DDRMAX if you have a playstation but by all means if you have the money get them all. Got to agree with SuperFast that MAX2 is more played but only get this mix if you like pop songs.
No need to worry about what kind of pad you get because you can always upgrade to a Red Octane. These are, in my opinion, the best soft pads out there. _________________

If you're serious about DDR or if you ever plan to be, you'll need all of the American mixes, and you'd be benefitted to get an import or two, although that is quite expensive. It's really hard to progress to the upper echelons of DDR achievement with a soft pad, too. _________________

Yeah, you can just mod a soft pad. That's what most people do instead of dishing out over $100 for a metal pad. You can make your own metal pad, but then that would cost some too. |

When you get a moment, then you can actually read and post where you are supposed to instead of having everyone do the work for you. _________________
