The arcade because of the atmosphere and the people. Even though I'm better on soft pads, its not as fun to play when you're alone.

I prefer the arcade. The perfect window is smaller, making it harder.

And PARANOIA EVOLUTION just doesn't sound as intimidating at home unless you got bass control on you tv/computer.

Home is so much better because a lot of the people at the arcade are really mean and they totally hog the machine. At home you can play as many games as you want and you don't have to wait in line. E15.gif

The arcade is fun when you have mastered a couple songs and you can "show off your moves" but in total, home is more fun and easy.

Arcade because of the platform, people, and experiences.

home is fun because it's your pad and you can play as much as you want, but really, it all boils down to the arcade experience. the crowds, the bright lights the sound. a veritable DDRgasm

I have a 7th mix at my local arcade and a cobalt flux with SM at my dorm. All my friends wonder why I go to the arcade when I spent so much money on my pad. They can't understand that at all.

The arcade has a more official sense to it. An AA on Stepmania isn't worth a penny and the way the game grades you feels a lot more forced and unnatural than the arcade. On top of that, at the arcade has a more friendly environment than an empty dorm room. Two people can play at once. There is no ONI here. And most importantly, a metal sheft is a poor substitue for a bar.

I love the arcade. It was so much fun when I was there and one day when I was watching them play I saw 3 hot guys doing it and they were really good. And I talked to one of them and I was so shy and he was going to make me play it. but I had to go and never found out his name. I hope I get back there and talk to him. riiight.gif

So my vote goes for the arcade!

Home is good in that you don't have to continually invest cash in it, but the arcade has a much better selection of songs and it isn't as fun at home unless a bunch of people are around (to show off to riiight.gif )

I personaly like playing on an arcade better because its more stable and you dont have to duct tape it to the ground, plus I started out on a arcade (3rd mix korean V2)

I like playing at the arcade because when people watch me I do better for some reason but I like my home dance pad to because I got the steel one that looks like the one at the arcade from www.ddrgame.com left.gif right.gif

bah! what is it with all these people who like arcade?

u have to drive to the arcade. u go and there's nobody there. the sound from other machines are so loud that even though the ddr machine is really really loud it hurts ur ears u still can barely hear the music. the arrows are lowered and it feels strange and when u step between the arrow and the center it really screws u up. the windows are much smaller too. all this adds up to failing on the first song and wasting a dollar. minus gas money.

so yes home sucks compared to the arcade if u have knoamix with soft pads but really arcade isnt as good as everyone's making it out to be. maybe u guys just have really good ones i dunno.

I think overall arcade is better, but home has some strong points: free play, privacy for screwing up as you learn new songs, and better sound. Nothing beats playing on a surround sound system with a TV bigger than the arcade monitor!

Still, I'm soured on soft pads, they always screw me over with ghosting, so I prefer the arcade for accuracy. It's also nice to be around people who appreciate accomplishments (my parents didn't understand why I made such a big deal out of getting my first AA on a 9-footer, Matsuri Japan).

There are pros and cons with both places

At home I only have a PoS soft pad which is always sliding around and the sensors will get moved so they dont register well. On the other hand I have no problem keeping the freeze arrows down and dont ever have to pay or wait in line.

At the arcade I play on a Extreme machine which is notorious for having a hard time holding down the freezes and sometims hit my foot on the bar. But since the music is better and its cool to have someone to play with not to mention the crouds ( 2 or 3 people laugh.gif ) that build up I have to go with the arcade.

I would have to pick arcade. So i can show off my ddr skills. But than again i would pick home to so i can pratice on my metal pad. I just don't know. Mostly i would pick arcade so i can meet knew people. It's still questionable ponder.gif
